The bear is out

The neighbor called me to tell me the bear is awake and out of the woods. It didn’t have cubs so he is thinking it’s a male. He also said he will stop by next week and give me a ride to the deep woods and a sugar shack where they process maple syrup. I can’t wait.

Watch any bird feeders you have. He's hungry right now.
My cousin does maple syrup every year. Good stuff. :D

He took down the neighbors bird feeder. I have the barbecue going now. When I’m done I’ll put it in the garage.

Flick say he saw some grizzly bears near Plaski’s Candy Store. That’s why I need my Red Ryder.

Be careful with the Red Ryder Gene, you could put your eye out. Are they really grizzly bears or black bears? I'm not much on Wisconsin culture etc... You might need to keep an eye peeled when outside or a .44 mag in the jacket.

There ain't no Grizzly Bears this far east. Either you're pulling our leg or someone is pulling yours.

I had yearly visits from brown bear in Woodinville. Not leaving food out is the best defense.

I had a cougar on my property and took a picture of it. It wasn’t a very good picture however the Fish and Game people were able to confirm it was a cougar. It was the first confirmed in years. Bobcats on the other hand are seen all the time.

You should look for the other kind of cougar. Just as dangerous, but you won't bleed as much. Lol

I’m not looking for a cougar or jail bait. I had the love of my life.

You are up where they have real grizz. When I lived in Montana as a kid we had grizz.

The grizzly has a massive respiratory & nervous system. They will keep coming like a freight train after getting shot more often than not. Have had many grizz encounters over the years and always give them a very wide berth.

Spring is a bad time of year to run into any mama bear but the black bears are more unpredictable than grizzlies. Most grizz I have seen are doing their own thing and as long as you stay out of their space, they don't pay much attention to you. The trick is to know how big their space is....good luck with that one. But at least a grizzly will kill you; unlike a black bear who will just as likely eat you alive.

Spent about sixteen months with fish and game before moving to state police. We took a lot of bear calls. The following was just some of the advice we shared... Not Kidding... True info.

Bird Feeder advice above... Good Advice.

Dog Food... If you feed your dogs outside, don't leave the food or bowls out. Feed them then bring the bowls in.

Trash / Trash Cans - aka Bear Buffets. Store them inside the garage, storage building, or in an enclosed space. Keeping the lids on is not really a challenge, Do Not store them on the back porch, patio, or deck. THEY attract bears.

Need We Say ... Do not feed the deer, squirrels, etc during bear season. You can't put up a sign that says no bears.

You can "possibly" move bears away from your porch, patio, deck, vehicle... (Say you had trashcans in the bed of your pickup, now you have trashcans, AND a bear)

*** By banging pots together
*** Playing loud music thru a window
*** Shooting the bear with a paintball gun (seriously). One elderly female asked a Sergeant what color paintball to use. The stunned Sergeant told her "Pink, it'll embarrass him among the other bears.".

Bears are creatures of habit and development a "route" in their search for food, don't get added to the route. ;)
