Any SAFE websites to order ammo from?

Post by BrokenolMarine » Tue Mar 29, 2022 12:23 am

"I" don't need to order any, but I have been asked on several occasions in the last month alone, "Where should I try and order ammo?" All I could say is to read the reviews and talk to other gun folks you know that HAVE ordered ammo. I have warned these friends that they need to be vary cautious as I have seen multiple warnings about FAKE websites offering "AMMO in stock at fair prices..." and when you pay for the ammo and shipping, you never see the ammo. If you EVER see your money back, it takes a while.

Any Websites You guys have used and had good results. The friends asking me have just needed 38 and 223. Nothing exotic.

Thanks.

I've only ever ordered ammo from https://www.underwoodammo.com/ No problems but they mostly have expensive defensive and hunting rounds. If they ever get their 9mm target ammo back in stock at the prices they show I will definitely order some from them.

I would also be interested in reliable sites selling target ammo at reasonable prices but what's reasonable now? Was just at my largest LGS and they had plenty of name brand 9mm and .223/.556 but at about double what we were paying before the current shortage. Have talked to several retailers and they seem to think we might eventually see 9mm get down to $15/50rds and .223/.556 down to $12/20rds.

Underwood and Clark Armory. I've bought from both, no problems, good service.

It's been awhile, but I've gotten good service from TargetsportsUSA. If you buy in bulk, shipping is free.

I use ammoseek quite a bit. Most sites there are good to order from. But I always not only check the shipping cost but check to see if they take credit cards. With a credit card you are protected. With that being said Target Sports and SGammo are both good places to order from. Target Sports also has a ammo club that if you join they guarantee you will save enough money to pay for membership or they return the difference. You don’t need to join to buy from them but a better price is given if you do.

I get daily emails from Natchez, Midway and Midsouth and on many days they are promoting ammo sales. I have never bought ammo from any online source but I have done business with all above and also Optics Planet and Brownells. Never had a bad experience with any I mentioned.

The only thing I've noticed about the on-line suppliers, is that some seem to have a better selection than others on any given day, and of course prices (and shipping/sales tax) vary quite a lot. Pays to shop around these days, there's a lot of competition for your dollars.

I agree. I have used Midway and Natchez. Midway seems higher but seems to have a larger selection.

As an example, the Brenneke Green Lightning I bought (100rnds) a couple months ago from Clark was on sale (still expensive, but it's never been cheap), and it was free shipping and no taxes. Plus there were only a couple others listed by ammoseek and they were higher out the door. Took less than a week to get to me. :)

Target Sports USA has been very good. PSA, Lucky Gunner, Brownells also. I’ve used Ammoseek but always check Target Sports, they are usually cheapest.

Lucky Gunner. I’ve ordered from them a few times. Super fast shipping. Decent prices.

I ordered some 20 gauge from Reed Sports in Minnesota a while back and they were very efficient.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I have shared the information with those who were seeking it, and this thread will now serve as my reference. If ammo ever starts to come down, "I'll" need to look for a bulk buy on 308 for my pig gun. :D

I made the mistake of just picking up a couple boxes when I bought the gun when we moved to OK, figuring I'd buy a case of the one that shot the best after testing.

One thing after another delayed my range, and we will soon see the two year mark... Hopefully it will be done by then. :P

Sorry to be late to the party, but I have purchased reloads from Georgia Arms years ago and just last year. They guarantee the ammunition and if you want newly manufactured ammunition, just look for "new" in the listings on their site. They make it all at their place. The reloads worked fine in everything I used it in. They were great to deal with. This last order they wanted a copy of my FFL because the order was going to NY state. They called me to tell me that and there were no issues once I sent a pdf. I've used their new ammunition also. No problems at all.
They had the only bulk ammunition I could find last year. I'd recommend them.

Dave, Georgia Arms used to be where we'd buy all our bulk supplies from back when I was competing in PPC. At least once a year, often twice, the president of the association and the VP would drive down with an enclosed trailer after placing a bulk order for fifteen or twenty of us. I'm talking primers, powder, bullets, reloading gear, loaded ammo, whatever. Many of these guys were competing in multiple disciplines: PPC, ISPC, STEEL, Silhouette, bullseye, skeet, trap, sporting clays... Driving down saved shipping and the huge order got us a really good price. If we needed a few things in the interim, GA would bring it to the Richmond gun shows and not charge shipping if you prepaid.

I still have GA bullets for reloading from my last bulk orders. Great Company.
** The last I heard they no longer allow direct pickup from their warehouses.
