crazy house prices

Post by dave77 » Wed Feb 09, 2022 2:32 pm

A house in Bellevue just sold for a million dollars over the asking price, the buyer paid cash. It seems just as crazy here, saw an ad for a 3 bedroom Craftsman style house for over $600,000. Don't see how a younger family with an average income is ever going to be able to buy a house, just the saving up the down payment would take a very long time.

I would like a pickup truck but I am not paying 70,000+ for it. Even used prices are not realistic.

If we didn't already own our house and vehicles, we couldn't afford to buy them.

Yup, throw in these kids are not taught how to handle money, or manage a house hold. Very little young people will not be able to move up.
I never take myself seriously....

The same here in Aus, lots of houses not even making it to market and plenty selling in a day or so after listing with offers 5-10% above the list price.

Son is 24 and purchased his first house last year, in a town 20x the size of the town my wife and I purchased our first house nearly 30 years ago and only double the price. Yes things go up but his income is triple what our combined incomes were, Many household items are cheaper than what they were 30 years ago, compare what you get for the same money now if purchasing a TV, microwave, refrigerator etc against 30 years ago.
