Medicate supplement suggestions

Shopping for Medicare Advantage plans and I am getting confused. Any personal experience to share for a potential supplier?

I see those commercials all the time and wonder how you qualify for the extra 100 bucks back to your Social Security check and how the companies make any money. Maybe in some states Medicade picks up the Medicare Part B cost if your income is below a set limit.
In me and the wife's case her Gov't Retirement Health plan is the secondary plan covering prescriptions and co-pay. We both pay for the Plan B which is deducted from the Social Security.

I pay for plan B as well. What I am shopping for is dental, vision, hearing and prescriptions. Was quoted $22.35 a month for some rather substantial benefits. My sister has similar costs and really good benefits. Just want to here if others have any insight on these plans.

I looked into changing from my state retiree supplemental insurance when the local medical center here was going to quit being a preferred provider. Thankfully they worked out their differences before I would have to change. I have to pay substantially more (over $300 a month) for the state program but the best Advantage program I found would have me paying out of pocket over $7000 a year just for my insulin where with my state program I only pay a $20 co-pay. They call it the do-nut hole and I believe it apply's to all Advantage programs. Once I meet my deductibles, between Medicare and my state insurance I very rarely have to pay anything and I see several doctors fairly frequently.

Worthwhile to see what prescriptions each plan will pay for and how much, I believe that it can change between different plans.

I’ll be making the same decision next month as I turn 65 in February. My wife is already on Medicare and she selected United Health Care Advantage Plan she purchased via AARP. She’s very happy with her plan and I will probably select it too for convenience. After the cost is deducted from her Social Security we pay $54 out of pocket monthly. We have a separate dental plan but she has all the other coverages including prescriptions and vision.

I get mine through TRS and am currently on United Healthcare. It does the job. I did have Humana before they changed over to United Healthcare. I can say I did like Humana a bit better.

Talked to another agent today and with a Medicare Advantage policy I can get Medicare parts C & D for no cost with some decent benefits. I am learning a bit but it is complicated of course. Anything for no charge always concerns me and I am looking for the hook but a supplement plan is different. Need knowledge.

Ernie, I think this info will help.
Go to Medicare.gov. then go to health and drug plans. Then sellect, find health and drug plans. You get a comparison of plans based on your personal details and location.

They are a rip-off. The way I understand it, you get poor coverage, maybe even no coverage on some things and cannot choose your own doctors. Checking over the reviews online would explain it a lot better than I could though.

I just wish JJ and Joe Nameth would get off my TV. They must play them about 100 times a day. Wonder what their advertising budget is? Common Sense comes into play here. As you have mentioned, how do they give you money back, then buy all that TV time and still make a profit. Something is definitely wrong here.
