A Bar-B-Que Gun

A recent article in one of my shooting magazines addressed the issue of Bar-b-que Guns. I had known what they were for years, and hadn't had one in my younger days, all my guns had really been working guns. But, after a major surgery, Miss Tina, who had heard my patrol partner and I talking about them, surprised me. She not only hooked me up with a gun nice enough to be both a Bar-b-que Gun but a functional off duty gun as well, but had paired it with a nice leather set up that would serve in the Bar-b-que function.

For those who don't know, a Bar-b-que Gun is a showy/dressy gun you would wear to a Bar-b-que. A Texas friend of mine told me to think of it as a Silver and Turquoise Bolo Tie.

So, the question to ponder is: Do you have one you would consider your Bar-B-Que Gun?

As far as the holster goes, Miss T didn't go half way. It's a Galco, and she bought the matching double mag pouch, and belt. What a Gal!

nice rig .... all of my handguns are full size revolvers but that doesn't mean I don't go to BBQ's

Think I might have a couple that might qualify but just have to find a BBQ to go to. However sometimes on a nice evening with the grill/smoker going
I'll take one out and just handle it....empty of course! Yours fits the picture though!

The guns in the Handgunner article were all Single Action Revolvers, with nice grips, touches of engraving, maybe fancied up finishes. Perhaps I'll find stag grips for my Uberti Birds Head, make me a hand tooled holster, and I'll have two dress guns.

Not nearly as fancy as fortyshooter's gun but I do have a nice holster. Need a nice cartridge belt and some nicer grips but always seem to have other things to spend my extra $$ on.

My therapy is coming along... the VA just approved 15 visits for more Professional therapy again, so maybe my progress will speed up a bit. Holsters? I can do that... I think. I made a sheath or three for knives. I was getting back into practice when I fell and broke the wrist in two places in February and the surgery to repair it caused this dang nerve damage in my hand. I have my leather bench waiting.. I am going to TRY and make a holster when I get back at it, and do some tooling, at least along the border. If it doesn't turn out, I'll call it practice, and try again.

I had gotten my leather working tools somewhat organized before the fall...

Nice Ruger Dave! What caliber? I ordered the new grips from Arizona Custom Grips. Aged Magna Tusk seem to blend well with the brass grip frame.

It's a .357, got it to go with my Henry. It's the convertible model that comes with a 9mm cylinder. 6½" barrel.

The holster is a Mernicle . I went with something fairly plain but it is a very well made holster, I added the hammer strap but it's such a good fit it's not really necessary. He makes some really fancy holsters that would be suitable for some really high class BBQ's but they have pretty fancy prices.

Hogue walnut I bought when I bought the gun about 22 years ago. Factory grips are usually too small for me on revolvers.
