Well, it's Fall and getting ready for Winter now.

Was pulling the dock in and decided to snap a few pics of the beauty we live in. I have most of the dock
decking stacked beside the canoe and am getting ready to winch the dock frame up onto the shore.
Took me about an hour.
I do love Fall, but I'm ambivalent about Winter.🤔
This is duck and goose season and I shudder to think of those guys running into my dock in the dark.
Just being careful pulling it in so early.👍

Thats a beautiful scene. That lake looks inviting for a short cruise.

Unlike most lakes in Minnesoooota it has never been stocked. It is listed as a "Primitive" lake, so there are
a lot of native sunnies, bullheads, carp, and even Sturgeon. But they do stock the lake that the outlet leads into,
so whatever comes upstream to spawn can be found. The problem with the lake is it is full of bait fish. So many
in fact that bait dealers harvest them with traps in the Winter by the millions, and for that reason it is very
difficult to get fish to bite. They're simply not hungry. I have had something bite a wooden bait in two leaving
tooth marks. :o

Now many would say that's not good, but we like it like this. I am chairman of the Shoreland Owners Assn. and we
have had offers from the DNR to stock the lake, but then they have to put in a public landing. That would mean
large power boats, jet skies, and lots of noise day and night. We like it just like this. We have eagles nesting, Loons,
ducks of many species, geese, owls, hawks and all kinds of animals living around the lake. It's like a primitive wonderland.
We can go canoeing and not worry about some power boat swamping us. In fact we can go out in the evening and not
see anyone else, usually.

Peace and tranquility, except during waterfowl season. ;)

When I want to fish for walleyes and northens there are several lakes within twenty minutes that I can take my big boat too.

The truth of the matter is I have four boats. The two you see in the photo as well as a large power boat
complete with cabin and bow cover, and a cedar strip canoe that lots of friends lust over. We take them
to large lakes or the BWCA fishing. I also had a sail boat but the wife finally set her foot down about all
those boat licenses. So I sold that one.

I seem to have accumulated a lot of toys in my life time.

Nice lake, you have. We're in a similar situation with our lake in that it has never been stocked, thought DNR has offered to stock if the property owners would allow public access. No way.

Beautiful lake. I agree. Why spoil a nice thing by letting them stock it and allowing public access. There is something about taking a canoe around a lake and listening to the loons.

For the last two and a half years, I put in and took out our dock at camp all by myself. It's shared by a few other camps. This fall I wasn't planning to be up there to do it. The other camps all had new owners this year. I didn't miss taking it out one bit.

I agree with everyone above. Keep them primitive. Enjoy the serenity of it.
