Really big polar bear

Post by John E Davies » Wed Oct 13, 2021 12:24 pm

This came from a 1962 issue of Guns magazine. They do not mention if a howitzer was used to take it.

One of the worlds top predators. A pure meat eater - if it moves it's food.

My father bagged one back in the mid 50's - not quite that big tho. Still took a half dozen .30-06 shots to take it down and it skidded to a stop about 10ft from him.

Yup, black bears and grizzlies might eat you depending on the day and perceived threat level.

But your are nothing but lunch to a polar bear.

Definitely NOT that cute cuddly critter certain folks are worried about. A comparison of various claws, including the PB. PB claws avg about 3.5" long, and evolved to give excellent traction on ice.

I'd most certainly leave our both 357 and 44 Mag at home ;)

Interesting comparison between the Grizzly and Polar bear’s claws. Thanks for posting the pic Gene.

The Great White Bear can hit 25mph at full run, and keep it up for a mile or so. If he starts charging you from 100meters away, you've got about 11 sec to take him down before he rips your head off. Better be really good with that .45-70 - or anything else. Or have somebody slower than you at your side.
