We have prairie rattlers here, and they generally have a bad attitude. Almost been bit twice by them (happily, they missed me by inches).
When we go to Arizona, that’s where the western diamondbacks live, and they will get your attention.

It was a prairie rattler in the garage. He wasn't in a good mood after I woke him.
We have a large number of copperheads in Oklahoma as well.

Only snakes I see are Northern Water snakes. Small in general, black, and very non aggressive. We have a small colony at the preserve down by the mill where I volunteer. When they are out sunning themselves, they are a hit with the visitors.

Tina was down at the barn with the new cow yesterday. Large watersnake was in the sun at the edge of the pond, in the process of swallowing a huge bullfrog back feet first. Kermit was not happy about the process and being rather vocal about it. The cow gave them a wide berth and waded in to cool off. :D
