I finally completed redoing the deck at the old place. I started last year. It was tedious as I had to completely sand down through four layers of paint and stain to get to bare wood. All over the deck the paint and stain was peeling here and there. I don't know who put what on initially, but it was not right. Whomever she got after just made it worse. The only thing to do was to sand it all down to bare wood and stain it. That's what I did. I just finished today. I did the hard parts last year, saving the straight pieces for this year. I did the straight parts with a belt sander and several belts. It came out pretty well. What you cannot see are three sets of steps on the sides. They were pretty hard. The hose is draped across to an area where the trees left some deposit that I cleaned right off this afternoon.

My back aches. Time for a drink.

My knees and back hurt just looking at this. Did you consider renting a hardwood floor sander?
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

I thought about it, but the boards were just not close enough to being even with each other that the belt sander was able to deal with each board. In deference to my knees, I finally broke down and bought a decent set of knee pads. They helped a lot. It was just slow and tedious.
