CZ Coach Gun Finally Arrived !
So my gun store (LGS) has been on the hunt for me for the CZ Hammer Coach 12 gauge shotgun for 6 months. I looked around the country and no one had any in stock.
I finally got a call yesterday and Bear Arms scored one for me.
I looked at all the typical brands, Cimarron, Taylor's, etc. Most made in China. I had settled on the CZ (Made in Turkey). It is a beautifully crafted piece, and I can't wait to put it through its paces. It throws very naturally for me.
I am hand loading Brass 12 gauge shells. Ironic, that I first started loading in 1969 with a Classic Lee Loader in 12 gauge. When I was rummaging through a cabinet a couple of months ago I found the original I bought in 1969 for fifteen bucks. Turns out it is the go to for hand loading for the brass hulls. Everything old is new again.

Nice, very nice. That color case hardening is great. That is a classic shotgun from days gone by.

r-n-g, that is nice. Old school! Brass hulls look neat. You load those brass hulls the same as newer hulls? I don't know diidly about shotgun loading.
Fine looking set-up tho. Range report needed.

Do you just push in a cardboard cover wad or seal it with wax?

Re: CZ Coach Gun Finally Arrived !
RCBS now makes Brass shot shell dies for action shooting, but most still hand load as they are pricey and most don't shoot a volume of brass shotshells. Like I said, I scored a big one finding my original Lee Loader from 1969. That is the go to system that is not made anymore and is going for $150 plus on ebay, although there is a company making a system now also for about a hundred bucks.
I am going to introduce my grandson to hand-loading. When you start it is a little unnerving, using a mallet instead of a press ! ! ! But boy it works.
Right now it is 117 here in Arizona, so it will be a couple of weeks before I venture out in the desert to get her dirty, but trust me, when I do if it flies, it dies ! ! ! !
Forty: I use a cardboard over powder wad, then a fiber cushion wad, drop shot, then close it with a waxed cardboard over shot wad. I then run a bead of Duco cement to seal it.
The secret is to use an 11 gauge wad instead of 12 gauge to get a really good seal.

Very sharp looking!!
Maybe a leather butt cap to take it back to 1850! You can legitimately call "shotgun!" now.

Beautiful gun! That bad boy needs to be where it can be seen, so don't stick it in the back of a gun safe !.. that color case hardening is great! Enjoy!!!

Re: CZ Coach Gun Finally Arrived !
I scored an old coach gun a few years ago, a Husqvarna. They are known for chain saws now, but started out making guns in the early years. Mine is reportedly from the late 1800s.

Re: CZ Coach Gun Finally Arrived !
Here it is... this is a "duty grade gun" that has seen a lot of use.
Double hammers, Double Triggers; You push that lever at the FRONT of the forearm to the side to drop the barrels. Odd way to open it, but the gunsmith said the gun is rock solid and can still be fired.
It's my understanding that they also made fully engraved, inlaid hunting/presentation grade guns for the very wealthy back in the 1800s.
