I think he got his start on the Welk T.V. program. Now that both he and big Al Hirt are gone things must be a little more quiet in the big easy.

Yes, Fountain was often on the Lawrence Welk program, and also numerous appearances on Johnny Carson, too.

There are few replacements for a man of this caliber. He was great.
