Short Recon Trip

Post by markiver54 » Tue Jun 22, 2021 10:26 am

We have been so busy taking care of things around here, that we havent been up to the cabin yet.
Carol is staying home, but I'm going alone tomorrow just to check things out. Make sure the place survived the winter ok, that no critters, large or small have breached anywhere, and that we have not aquired any squatters that may have taken a rest from the hiking trails.
Oh!...I won't be totally alone though; Henry will be with me. :D

Might as well do some shooting if you are driving all the way up there. Dont forget the whiskey in case you decide to stay over night. No need to hurry home.

Good point Al.I did figure on taking an overnite bag, just in case. Gotta check the ammo supply. My flask will go with me as well.
Actually, my favorite gun store is up there, so I will stop in and check their stock. It is where I bought my Henrys.

It occurs to me, the trip will be two-fold. I'm driving the new 4-Runner and have yet to try out the 4 wheel drive.
And you're right Al, no need to hurry back! :D

Always milk the trip, if you're burning gas anyway. Last trip to the VA hospital, I stopped into the Tandy Leather store and found a nice piece of leather for sheaths, a few punches I had been missing, and a cutting pad to protect the edges on the various leather knives. I mean, it's two hours each way.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

The value of a good Henry or Ruger. Good for wood peckers and pecker woods !

Sounds like fun. I would love to have a place like that.

We are going to Griz country for a few days of camping; me, the wife, the dog, and Mr. Glock.

Got back this afternoon. Probably would have stayed longer if I had the weed whacker with me though. Pretty overgrown.
I worked hard cleaning, vacuming and knocking down cobwebs. Gonna call and have the Jacuzzi professionally cleaned and filled soon.
Saw a couple deer on the property, and some really fresh bear prints. ( no scat though ) ☺
Did not really have time to shoot, other than about 20 shots, just plinking, with my nine. Got everthing pretty presentable for Carol, whenever she decides to enjoy HER place. I'm gonna...no matter what. Love it up there. She is just not as much into the outdoors as I am anymore. I live for it!! β˜ΊπŸ––
