Texans can carry handguns without a license or training starting Sept. 1, after Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday signed the permitless carry bill into law.
House Bill 1927 eliminates the requirement for Texas residents to obtain a license to carry handguns if they’re not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a gun.
Site seems to be OK. Load issue should be resolved now.

These people can’t even drive, I don’t trust the majority of them to carry with no vetting or training.

Great news, and kudos to Greg Abbot. Makes me proud, as I am Texas born!

Why are we even discussing this! Very political and a hot button issue.

I understand the objections. But I'll also note that any mention of the Constitution, including the Amendments, Federalist papers, etc. are inherently political in their very nature, so can lead to arguments. Even beyond that, political arguments can arise over what somebody had for breakfast since food preferences are often cultural, and therefore political. The goal I think is to avoid recriminations and arguments that lead to hard feelings, not to self censor any mention of something that could potentially get out of hand.

as a matter of principle the factual reporting of a news item falls within the scope of approved material .... responses that stray into political, 2nd Amendment or most religious areas do not .... its a line that most of our folks respect and handle well .... as noted, most any topic can be made political and when that happens, we take the steps necessary to enforce forum norms
