I realize I'm an old country boy, but I can't grasp the notion, someone could hack you for ransom, and you trust them to hold up their part of the deal.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Ransomware attacks are more and more prevalent. It's a national security problem. It's also a business. Attackers usually hold up their end of the deal so they have a reputation of giving the data back. They even have a Helpdesk to make recommendation on what you need to do to increase your securit posture. Schools, hospitals, manufactures, are all getting hit. It's scary! They hit the pipeline, hospitals, and food supply. Heaven help us if they hit the power grid.

I really can't understand how a business can leave themselves vulnerable like that. I don't care how big the business is, if I were running it, I would have a back up system that I could go to, to still keep it operating. After all, we had businesses that ran just fine before the computer age.

True but today everything has to happen NOW!! if you snooze you loose, I agree with a back-up but try to get that expense past the bean counters :(

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

We have a Generac ordered to be installed this Summer. If they hit the power structure we should be OK,
buy that's not why we're getting it. We have had power failures in the dead of winter and we want the security.
