Yesterday Margie was going out in her 2011 Edge to run a few errands and along the way got side wiped at 50 MPH and the idiot didn't stop!
She felt a bump and thought she got hit from behind. Happened so fast no chance of getting the license plate number but does remember color and it was a small 4 door sedan. She then saw the damage done at her first stop and came on home upset of course. Luckily the hit didn't cause a serious accident and injury.
Crazy people on the highways that could care less what they do.
Taking it in for repair estimates next week and will be installing a dash cam.

That sucks Forty and she was probably scared also. I would not be surprised if the person was on his or her cell phone texting. Its just a habit for me from driving trucks but I dont drive just out the front windshield I know whats beside me and in back of me all the time.

Doesn’t remember the color? When there is white paint all down the side? Good luck, I have a NextBase 422GW and it is excellent, be sure to get an HD camera so you can read license plate and street sign numbers, and one with good low light ability. If the resolution is too low the video evidence may be useless after a collision. You need a high speed Class 10 memory card for video, cheaper ones will stall and quit, and IMHO it should be 128 GB or more. Ideally you will hard mount it and add the hard wire kit, so that t is less likely to disappear. Mine is located in front of the center rear view mirror, it is out of the way and not a distraction for the driver. The optional polarizing filter is useful if the car has a light colored hood, to reduce glare in the images.

I agree with the cell phone problem. It is an epidemic and should be enforced like DUI'S. I see neighbors dialing their phones as they leave their homes???
Don't know if your wife's accident was cell phone/texting related...just had to vent.

In some parts of the country, that will get you shot or shot at. Memphis for example.

I bought a camera for our truck camper this year, because of ALL the INCONSIDERATE drivers out there.

the good news is, she's not injured .... sadly, whoever was driving the other vehicle is still out there

When I'm driving my Miata I won't stay beside a truck or SUV, either stay back or get past them quickly. There seem to be more and more stupid/negligent drivers out there and at least in my town the cops don't seem to spend much time enforcing traffic laws. We have a local bridge with a 40mph speed limit and they could hand out tailgating tickets all day long there.

Sorry this happened to her. I got a dashcam a few years back and turn it on every time I leave the driveway. Ya' never know when it will come in handy.

I advise you to call it in if you haven't already. Years ago my mom was involved in a hit and run that did major damage to her car, and she didn't get any information, but called the PD when she got to the wrecker driver's shop. They had been waiting for her to call in, two other drivers had called in after following the vehicle and getting a solid description of the car, license number and a good description of the driver as well. Might get lucky, there are still good folks out there.

Just keep in mind. Once a police report is filed, it will then show up on a CarFax as an accident if you ever go to re-sell it.

Va. has a new cell phone law in effect that prohibits handling a phone while driving with a $250 fine. Last incident she was involved in was back in 2000 when she was going to work in her 1999 Mustang GT and some idiot didn't yield in the merge lane taking out the right rear of her Mustang.

Hopefully we will get her car looking great again!

Good to know your wife didn't get hurt, but, probably shook her up a bit. Inconsiderate people out there.

Glad your wife is fine with no injuries, after this. Cars can be fixed, people are much harder. Unfortunately there are a lot of folks that will not take responsibility for their actions. If the can get away with it they will try.
