Dad's Service Revolver

My Dad is about to turn 93. He is a Korean war Vet and was a Deputy Sheriff . I will always cherish this pistol.

S&W 66-2

I will pass this down to my nephew some day...

NICE! Those are sweet shooting revolvers Coach. I have one which is the 66 no dash I bought from a neighbor some years ago.

Very Nice. I carried a Model 64 when I first left the academy, and never felt under gunned. I shot it well, and bought it when we transitioned to the Semi-Auto.

^^^^ That's what my Dad did because I told him I wanted his revolver.^^^^^

I got it with the wood grips but I changed them out for the Hogue rubber grips.

The wood grips bruised my knuckle up on the trigger guard. The Hogue's have the finger grooves and my knuckle is fine after banging a box of .357 down range...

Coach ,great picture of Dad and of his revolver. Any chance taking Dad out to the range for a hour or two? Load that revolver up with some wadcutters if available and have a blast with him.

You know what unfortunately no.

Between the Army and being a Deputy Sheriff he got his fill of shooting. I have never gone shooting with him because being the youngest of 5 kids the family was heavy into sports when I came of age.

I actually got into shooting only about 10 years ago after playing and coaching soccer for 40 years.

He’s had a tough year and has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He recently had to get a tracheotomy because the Parkinson’s is paralyzing his throat.

He has always been a gentle loving man and never felt the need to be a macho man.

I did do a lot of fishing with him when I was growing up. That’s what he loved to do versus shooting…

during my entire 30+ year career with NC's Dept of Correction, S&W 357 was our service revolver .... one of my assignments involved staff training and over time I was very impressed with their ability to fire untold tens of thousands of rounds without any issues .... I can only wish I'd of been able to purchase one when the department switched to semi autos .... your father's should provide generations of service to your family
