from the Weather Channel ===> Hurricane Ida's outer bands began bringing heavy rain to the Louisiana coast early Sunday as the storm continued to strengthen overnight. It was packing 150 mph sustained winds, just 7 mph shy of Category 5 force, as the storm's center neared the U.S.

they are showing heavy rain and a tornado warning has already been issued .... the eye is about 50 miles offshore and is expected to make landfall around noon

That looks pretty darn bad. I saw the mayor of New Orleans on TV a couple of days ago say that if
you hadn't already evacuated, it was already too late. Pretty darn dumb statement in my opinion.

And some Weather Channel added drama.... most likely from a current safer location I just saw on TV they had the reporter struggling to stand upright in the blowing wind and rain with a helmet on. Then in middle of report a 20 something guy with a sweatshirt on and no hat just walks calmly by between the camera and the reporter I had to laugh on that one!

Looks like might miss some of the heavy stuff but another inch or so of rain I guess. As long as the wind doesn't get cranked up we should be OK.

Less than five hours after taking shape over the Gulf of Mexico, Tropical Storm Mindy made landfall along the Florida Panhandle Wednesday night as a tropical storm in almost the same exact spot that Tropical Storm Fred hit less than one month ago.

Moving ashore under the cover of darkness, Mindy unleashed gusty downpours across the Florida Panhandle with the worst conditions hitting around Panama City and Apalachicola. Video from the region showed a tree rustling in the wind as heavy rain soaked the coastal cities.
