Galveston and Dickenson are two of our favorite areas in Texas. Sad.

Re: 2021 Hurricanes / Tropical Storms
Sam is only one of four names left on the designated list for the busy 2021 Atlantic hurricane season. Teresa, Victor and Wanda will be the only names remaining on the list once Sam is named.
Once these names have been used, and that is likely to happen this season, a supplemental list of tropical storm names, prepared by the World Meteorological Organization, will be utilized. This list will replace the Greek Alphabet, which was used to name storms during the hyperactive 2020 and 2005 hurricane seasons.

Let’s hope Teresa, Victor or Wanda don’t show up. My neighbor is leaving in a few days for 4-5 weeks heading to Austin, Cape Canaveral, Alabama and other areas in the SE. He plans to be gone for 4-5 weeks so will be in the storm area for quite a while.

Re: 2021 Hurricanes / Tropical Storms
Hurricane Sam developed over the open waters of the eastern Atlantic on Friday morning after becoming the 18th named storm of the 2021 hurricane season on Thursday morning .... forecasters expect Sam to strengthen further into a major hurricane prior to approching the islands of the northern Caribbean next week.
it is still to soon to be able know if it will hit the US or stay out in the Atlantic

Re: 2021 Hurricanes / Tropical Storms
Sam is a huge Cat 4 that is spinning away out in the Atlantic .... the good news is, the current projection calls for Sam to not come into contact with the US

Re: 2021 Hurricanes / Tropical Storms
Forecasters say confidence is growing that the United States will miss out on a direct hit from Hurricane Sam, but the monster storm will still be able to make some waves.
As of Sunday morning, Hurricane Sam was located about 900 miles to the east-southeast of the Leeward Islands and was tracking to the west-northwest at 8 mph. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center of Sam and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles. Sam remained a Category 4 major hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale with maximum sustained winds of 145 mph. A major hurricane is any storm classified as a Category 3 hurricane or greater.
