Gas Shortage

we just got back home from a routine local drive to take care of several things .... we were surprised to see local stations out of gas and local enforcement directing traffic to handle the traffic at the local Sheetz station which is only one we saw that had gas .... gasoline prices have risen a dollar a gallon since the ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline .... as one who remembers the gas lines of the '70's, we sure hope they get the gas flowing again soon

Colonial say's it will be about a week before the main lines are on line, but it will take about 2 to 3 weeks before the product reaches the consumers. They have to fill up the lines from scratch with everything from regular gas to jet fuel and diesel, and it takes a while for it to travel thru 5500 miles of main and subsidiary lines. And that's assuming there's no problems. It's not as simple or easy as people think. In the meantime they'll be sending product to their distribution points in tanker trucks, so you're going to see a lot of those guys barreling down the freeways like they're hauling beer. ;)

Sorry for the hassle. Waiting to see how it affects us in Ne.
I lived though the 73 nonsense. Interesting that we were energy exporters a couple years ago.

I'm no expert but it seems the professor on Gilligan's island had this issue solved. He taught Gilligan how to read a pressure gauge, perhaps it's time to harden the power grid, this was designed to fail

This is such complete nonsense, the state’s attorney general should go after any gasoline station owner or franchise for upping the price because of this cyber attack.

Agreed. But, that's as far as I'll go with this.

Saw same thing just now coming back from grandson's ballgame. Holly Springs,Cary,Raleigh. No cops. Should have at one station. Thru traffic was being block both ways. I ,to, remember the 70's shortage and fist fights at the pump. These days probably gun fights at the pumps.

On my way to my range property and there used to be 2 stations there on the main road. One shut down 2 wks ago due to other issues and the other is now at 2.99 for Regular 87 octane. Here at home it was 2.85 and bet it will be more tomorrow. Several stations here are out of gas.

I remember those even/odd days for buying gas back in the 70's!

I wasn't too worried yesterday, but late in the day I figured I better tank up. I couldn't get no where near the Diesel/Non-Alcohol pumps and settled for the Mid-Grade. It was probably my last chance before it got real crazy.

Not only do I remember the '73 shortage, I was the one pumping it, lol. We would end up just closing early.

Do y'all old guys remember all those gadgets and chemical things in '73 that promised to save you so much gas you'd have to drain the excess gas out of your tank if you used them all at the same time?

Out here is Washington State we’re at $3.20 (ish) but most of the difference is our high state gas tax. We haven’t seen a large increase in the last week, maybe 10 cents or so. Of course the pipeline being discussed doesn’t serve us but you know how it is, monkey see monkey do..... :(

I guess this too shall pass. In the mean time though, don't ticket me for riding my 4-wheeler to the grocery store.😐

Hope the pipeline gets back up soon! Meanwhile charging up the battery for the electric mower my neighbor threw away couple years ago.
Will use it for the small areas instead of the gas powered mower.
