Sad day

Luke's (the goat) been feeling poorly for the last couple of weeks and took a turn for the worse yesterday and it was time to have him euthanized. Vet came out about 7:30 last night, when I knew the vet was on his way I locked Leia out of paddock but she was having none of that, was trying to push through the fence, the vet said to let her in. She came over and watched the whole procedure and the vet said it wouldn't hurt to leave him in the paddock with her overnight. Buried him out in the pasture this morning and Leia seems to be doing OK, will see how she does long term, may have to get her a new companion. She and Luke have always been together since birth other than a short period when he was separated from her while waiting for his banding to take effect.

I think I'm starting to ramble on but anyway, May the Fourth will never be the same since that is their birthday.

Sorry to hear it, Dave. I do understand. It's always hard to lose a pet. We've lost may over the years.

I'm sorry to hear about Luke. Deciding when to put an animal down is one of the toughest things a human has to do. I totally understand your loss.

That sucks. No options though when they are suffering with no end in sight. You did the right thing.

Guess the Man upstairs had a job in mind that only a good goat could do.

Thanks for all the consolations, he was a good pet who passed before his time. I did tear up a bit while burying him but he wasn't a constant companion like one of my cats or a dog. Was more concerned about his sister but she seems to be doing OK. I'm sure she's missing him but she was excited about her oat ration this morning and has been out grazing several times today. I'm going to wait awhile before deciding if she needs a new companion.

The sooner the world realizes that animals have thoughts, minds and emotions, the better. Some already realize this, but to those who do not, I suggest they get a companion and feel the unconditional love that follows.
