Bad day at the drag strip !

Post by fortyshooter » Wed Mar 31, 2021 10:19 pm

What can happen in this new thing called "Racing on an unprepared track surface". https://youtu.be/Y8ANXoAAy6c

Driver came thru it okay but a spectator suffered some injury from what I heard on another report.

Notice all the people allowed to stand right next to the cars during burnout....accident waiting to happen there too!

You can’t fix stupid. If one car blew up at the start you would have a whole lot less stupids...... Would I have any sympathy? Nope. Darwin in action.

Yeah that Mustang is toast! I had mine get out of shape at the local strip when I ran into somebody's liquid on the track that the track crew didn't see.
Was able to save it. Have seen some crazy things happen at the track!
Had some video from some years back when the "Stock Appearing" muscle car guys were racing at our track. It was a race between a 69 RoadRunner 440 6 Pack...an original... running against a 69 396 Camaro. For some reason near the finish line the guy driving the RR hit the automatic shift lever into reverse and the car spun around 180 degrees and went across the finish line in reverse and BEATING the Camaro!!!
The RR slightly brushed the concrete wall and dented in the right front headlight area. Both car and driver very lucky!
