Ordered a Kydex IWB holster from Concealment express, now getting emails about a "claw". It's supposed to reduce printing.. anybody here use(d) one? Living under a rock I've never heard of it !

Looks like it would make IWB even more uncomfortable, I know some people like IWB carry and I have a IWB kydex for my PX4c but I really prefer my leather OWB holster. Unless the printing is very obvious most people aren't going to notice anyway, those that do are probably carrying.

It's a couple pieces of plastic that's supposed to shove the gun butt into your hip bone, thereby making your pistol invisible. See this:

I will always carry OWB. Even if I print a bit, I don't care. At least I'm not open carrying as to alarm " some " people. Also, as Dave said, those that do notice, are probably carrying too.
I, personally, cannot see how a IWB could not be very uncomfortable. That is, unless my belt is so loose that my pants would fall down. JMO.

Thanx for the replies, I carry my glock 43 IWB for few years and like it. Just never heard of a claw

I've been carrying IWB for 15+yrs. the secret is a GOOD holster. I have tried a few different brands my first was a Fist #2 can be carried iwb or owb all leather well made and very comfortable I have one for my 1911's and my SR40. I also have some Allain Gear holsters, 1 full size & 1 compact. the nice thing about these that you can buy shells for different pistols and use the same base/backing & Allain gear has a lifetime warranty something breaks send them an email they send you a replacement. Yes you might have to buy a longer belt but I carry wearing shorts and a shirt if you tuck your shirt, it fits between the holster & pants waist and is nearly undetectable

I have a couple IWB's. One custom made for Ruger 9e. This is a full size 17+1 and pretty heavy. I hardly ever carry it anymore, but the Diamond D. IWB for it is actually fairly comfy if you position it correctly. IWB is terrible behind the wheel tho. I also have an OWB paddle for it (also from DD) that I much prefer, but I've switched to a P365 for carry last summer. The Ruger spends most of it's time on the night stand these days.

I never carry IWB. Tried it, didn't like it. I carry OWB, keep it covered, usually. Tenn is open or concealed. so, not really concerned if someone notices, or wants to have a hissie fit if they see it.
The reason I like concealed, element of surprise.
BTW, Tenn has just passed a Constitutional carry law, on the way to the Governor. who will sign. Not sure on the effective date.

Effective Jun1. Unless someone manages to get an injunction to stop it. There will be various officials (Mayors, Judges, PD, etc.) who will make it as difficult as possible to implement it after Lee signs it. We had some of that during the first 3 years MS had permitless carry. I expect TN will have much of the same antics from the usual suspects, that they'll have to administer an attitude adjustment to.

No room for a claw when carrying my Alaskan ISWB ! When I'm walking around outside I carry my XDE in a holster in my back pocket. With a T-shirt or sweat shirt hanging out it doesn't get noticed but it is very quick for me to reach behind get out.

IWB to me would make it even harder to get a quick purchase on the weapon.
Maybe, if the bad guy even notices a print, then the encounter may never happen. Don't quite understand the " Hide it Completely " mentality. I only conceal to keep the squeamish calm.

I dont expect any meaningful opposition. Only opposition I saw prior to the vote was the Tenn Sheriffs Assn. They dont pull a lot of weight here.
Only folks I saw speaks out against it today was a guy with a gun range that does permit classes. Obviously, he'll lose money. His "alleged" concern was education, safety, etc.
Buckle up, Gunny, we'll see how it goes.

I believe the key to comfort and concealment is having a good holster the fits you and the firearm correctly. An OWB holster can provide the same concealment as an IWB holster if it fits correctly.

For a carry holster my preference has always been leather. They are a little slower to draw but leather provides a proper fit that plastic (Kydex) can't. Also Kydex tends to be very rigid and can't conform to you body shape the way leather can. So from my perspective IWB or OWB carry makes no difference with the right holster.

I carry my G43 in my pocket in a Sticky Holster. Other pistols get carried OWB. Tried IWB, and just can’t get comfortable with it. The only time I open carry is in the back country.

I always wanted to do a body search like that when I was with the Sheriffs Dept, but wasn't allowed. Rats!!

If we are going to carry every day, then I think the #1 most important thing is, how comfortabe and accessible our carry is.

With the right holster, right size pants, belt, and of course gun... Carrying IWB can be fine. The belt doesn't have to be any tighter than with an OWB or hip holster.

Most of the students I had who returned for follow up coaching or classes and said they couldn't carry IWB admitted they tried without adjusting up the size in pants or belt to make it comfortable. They just tried to stick the gun and holster inside their already whining waistband.

That's like trying to conceal a duty size firearm in a nice shoulder holster under your regular suit coat when you know you are already pushing ten pounds over for "that" poor jacket.
