Well that didn't work well..!

Watching the Nascar Truck Series trying to run the first qualifying race in the Bristol wet clay. Before the first turn the windshields were fully caked up and drivers couldn't see. Red flag until it dries out but looks like a lot rain yet to come.

Real dirt cars had windshield screens to keep the large chunks out and not lexan glass.

Although no longer a Nascar fan, the big promoted dirt race is sure running into some big trouble. Wet forecast today and wet forecast for tomorrow. This is all new to me, but I'm curious on how they are going to dry a mud track.

Whoever decided that making Bristol into a dirt track was a good idea should be fired for this fiasco. What a waste of time and big money.

I think it's a gimmick to try and retrieve some of the fans they've lost.

Here is some video at Bristol. Check out what a drivers view was like towards the end of the video:

I'm only about 2 hours south of Bristol. Given our forcast, there won't be a race tomorow.

Like other big sports, NASCAR sold out. Most of the fans packed it in when they did.

They did it several years ago and the World of Outlaws ran it. Pretty cool, I saw it in person.

Agreed, this is a gimmick to attract more fans. My thinking is, it may attract some out of curiosity, but lose some that think it's a waste of racing time.
If it's viewers they want, let the antenna folks see all the races, instead of splitting it up with cable/Sat. They can broadcast on both at the same time , same cost. More TV money for NASCAR, more exposure for sponsors. Win-win.
Won't bother me one bit if they lose every viewer they have. Sold their soul to cable & Sat.
