Guns 1959 “I Burned Guns You’d Buy” article
This will make you weep, an Army ordinance officer describes culling, sorting and destroying WW2 weapons, and heating his winter quarters with broken buttstocks....
And finally this ad from the same issue:
If those are not readable, here is a link to the pdf download for that issue:

I noticed on the last picture a No 5 Jungle Carbine for $19.95. That’s what I paid for mine in 1966.
Thanks for the post and link.

I really hate this stuff. This could have been sold to the public, or just allow a GI to take his weapon home with him.
The one worst instance I ever saw, was at the end of 'Nam, all these Hueys being pushed overboard into the SouthChina sea. I would loved to have one. ( and yes, I know why they did it.).

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Hey John,
Did you see the local guy who just got his hands on one of the Hollywood giant presses shown in the advertisement on one of the pages? I posted the picture for him, what an interesting coincidence. I haven’t read the entire article yet but plan to do so later. Thanks for posting.
