If you get the first shot...lets just say Moderna. Then you wait the recommended amount of time, and schedule your second injection. When you get it, how do you know you are getting a second of Moderna and not Phizer.
I would assume it should be the same and don't mix them. Have heard nothing about this possibility.
Also, how do you know #2 will be available within the time frame?

They say they hold in reserve the second shot from the same lot number. Yet I just heard that some places used all theirs for the first shot and when it came to the second shot they were out.

I will only get the one shot J&J. Not that it’s just one shot but rather that I do have a choice. According to the news I don’t have a choice but I do. It’s J&J for me or nothing.

Another reason why I'm bringing my vaccine card with me. I will also be asking to make sure everything is in order, as the thought has crossed my mind as well.

At the time I got my first shot, I got a "vaccine card" with a sticker identifying the manufacturer and the lot number of the vaccine; and an appointment was immediately made to get the second shot. I was told the vaccine would be held in reserve for that appointment. I was instructed to bring the vaccine card to the second appointment. After I got the second dose, they put another sticker on the card with its lot number.

Thank you Stan. I appreciate the information and the pic of the card.
Would be nice if the media provided these answers.

CT, & Mark, I had the same with the VA, same card same results. They don't mix them .
BTW, I made a photo of the card on my cellphone, so if necessary, I can show that I have been fully vaccinated, without
carrying the card around with me.

I did that, too. Seemed like a good idea.

Why are the people in the photo who have been vaccinated still wearing masks?

The CDC advises masks for fully vaccinated people while out and among the general population.
CDC wrote:COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick. Based on what we know about COVID-19 vaccines, people who have been fully vaccinated can start to do some things that they had stopped doing because of the pandemic.

We’re still learning how vaccines will affect the spread of COVID-19. After you’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you should keep taking precautions – like wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces – in public places until we know more.
