But in my yard! Have several places around the yard where pine tree and one maple tree roots are working up to high above the soil causing tripping and grass cutting issues. So I would take the shovel and break the soil from around the exposed root and cut that section out with my chain saw. Root comes out easy and back fill with dirt. This was one large pine root right here!

Won't that kill the tree ?

Well that root was right at my fence gate and was being a trip hazard and also headed towards the house foundation. Don't think it would hurt that huge pine tree that much as there are many others around it. Didn't cut the one from the maple tree yet and might leave that one alone.

I'll tell ya, the tap root on a pine is DEEP.
