Range Flag

When I was shooting yesterday I noticed my neighbor unloading his riding lawn mower from his truck. He sometimes will ask for my help.

My range is beside my house. From ten meters I can safely see to both sides. When I’m back at 20 yards I can only see to one side and someone walking, like my neighbor wanting help, from the other side could easily step into the firing line.

I want to get a range flag where I can roll into the normal walking route. Any suggestions?

Edit: a sign like this might help. I could put it on a post attached to a car wheel rim and roll it into place.

a sign could certainly help .... sadly, all to few shooters and even fewer non-shooters would know a range flag when they see it and what it means .... in your case you could make sure your neighbors know .... sadly with our neighbors that would only serve to increase hard feelings with the ones who don't support any type of shooting .... your question sparked my interest so I looked it up on Amazon .... I was surprised to see they offer a range of inexpensive red warning flags from 18" to 3X5' ===> https://www.amazon.com/s?k=red+range+fl ... nb_sb_noss

I think Id go for the red flags hung out and letting your neighbors know that if your shooting and the flag is out come in from a different way

I ordered two of the signs and will place one to the blind side and one facing their house so they can see when the range is hot.

They are anti-gun but pro-Gene.

The problem is they aren’t the only ones that might cut across my property. Most people wouldn’t know what a range flag was for or meant. I bought the signs but am still looking for a flag.

Getting a flag and sign is the easy part. Finding a way to quickly and easily put them in place and take them down will be the hard part.

Good idea. I often thought that if I get my on range, I would probably have a red flag flying as well. If people can walk into the line of fire, maybe rope out the area with a danger sign attached also.

That is what I’m thinking. I bought two signs and might put a chain between them as a physical barrier.

Al when you were here we came in from the other side. This is behind the house and the natural path is to the right close to the house. The line of fire is about ten feet from the house coming from the right.

And don’t forget “no girls allowed”... oh I guess that won’t help with the dating part. Bad idea.

I have neighbors down range from my backyard air rifle range and if I see them come out I just call it a day and let them enjoy...even though I have a good backstop. My backyard is fenced in and I can see both side yard areas where someone might come into view. Maybe a barrier chain you could run across from the side of the house to property line might be a positive stop for unknowing people.

I’m thinking about that too. What I don’t want is a fence that block the view
