Bananas tougher than they used to be?

Or is it just me? Lately when trying to peel a banana I end up destroying the top part of it trying to get it to peel. Have to use a knife to cut a starter slit on the end. I guess it is an evolution of security packaging in nature now!

I have experienced that as well. I think it has to do with the ripeness stage of the banana. If they are not very ripe, they are harder to get the peel started as compared to those that are in a more riper stage. I am not knowledgeable about them but I did stay in a Holiday Inn a few times!

First time I've been right all year, LOL.
Forty, you're not alone. I bought some, a while back, that the core was hard. Had to toss 'em. Probably made in China.

I donβt bother to even try without a knife slit first. BUT..... according to a buddy I used to work with if you watch a monkey or ape peel a banana they always start at the opposite end from where the banana attaches to the bunch. Crazy but true.
Yep, we will discuss just about anything here.
Hmmmm maybe a banana would make an interesting target for a centerfire. Splat!

Hatchdog is right. Peel 'em from the bottom end. Been doing it that way for years after someone showed me.

I quit buying oranges, hard to peel and too often not sweet. I only buy tangerines now, usually Cuties, easier to peel and always sweet.

Had never heard of those, so I looked it up.
Huh!, originally grown in Japan and have thin skin. Have never seen such a label in the Grocery store, but, then again, have never known to look for them.

We have two satsuma trees at our residence. They produce so much fruit than we can consume that we sell them off at $1 per dozen and give away a whole bunch more.

Had the same probs with the 'nanas. Currently my fiancee peels tangerines and usually offers me half. My second wife used to peel grapes for me!
