I have started to move some rifles out of here to get down to the ones that get shot more than ones that just sit idle. Took my CZ 455 Lux 22 LR to a friends LGS and put it there on consignment. Hopefully the exceptional wood on this one will help sell it faster. Was a decent shooter but I have never warmed up to 455's with me favoring the 452's. Then I took my Contender 223 Rem. with the Burris 7X scope on it along with my CZ 527 Walnut stocked Varmint 223 Rem. and sold both to a local gun shop. The dealer was amazed at the condition of the Contender saying it was the nicest one they have had in the shop. The CZ only had 25 rounds through it and I had the box and all the contents. I actually ended up breaking even on them by not letting the Harris bi-pod go with the Contender. My friend needed a short bi-pod so he bought it from me. I really was thinking I would lose money.

I have been movng a whole lot of my firearms and ammo that I have not been engaged with lately! I dont blame you one bit!

Yup me to I bet I have sold more than 20 guns in the last few months. Just have to much stuff.

of heirlooms.

Same, here. Got a call from a shooting pal who runs a sideline of selling guns at gunshows. He specializes in Contenders, but the supply on those original Contenders has dried-up. (He bought out all my Contender stuff just before Covid hit.) He's desperate for guns to sell, so I'll be selling him some CZs and assorted other guns. We've been meaning to sell off a lot of guns, anyway, since our shooting is now heavily air guns, anyway, and it's getting so pricey to feed the regular guns.

No matter how bad things get, though, our beloved 1885 single shots and our favorite single actions will never get sold.A cowgirl has to have her best shooting' irons.

Hanging on to all my stuff even my Glock 23 for which I have very little ammo for and don't load for it.

I understand why some are selling off their excess firearms. However, I take the opposite trail.

I have a combination of family heirlooms that go back over 130 years with a history on each one (my grandmother shot a man with a Bowie with her 1894 Winchester saddle carbine in .32 WS that was going after my grandfather who was a horse and buggy doctor in Texas for having to pay his bill), a 1948 Remington .22 bolt action my grandfather taught me how to shoot with, that I taught my son and my grandson with, as well as others that have special meaning to me and my career, as well as others for recreation and hunting.

I am in the process of writing a book on the family firearms legacy, their individual history and story that is attached to each one. I am at 96 pages and not even half way through. When finished, I will have it printed in hard back and it will stay with the collection and will be handed down to each new generation.

I was going to break into one of my shadow boxes and have my grandfathers 1911 .45 he carried in WWI and my father in WWII as I had a friend that was really interested in it. My son caught me and braced me saying that it was a family heirloom.

I am fortunate to have a family who appreciates family history and heritage. I get comfort knowing that my posterity will be shooting the same weapons I did throughout my life.

I admire you for taking care of family heirlooms. I'd surely do the same if had any to keep and treasure. It's just the two of us, though. None of the kids or grandkids have an interest in our guns, with the exception of some of our air guns, surprisingly, since we've had kids and grandkids shoot them when they've come to visit. Sooner or later, we'll have to sell off our cartridge guns, since we have no one in the family who want them.

You know, I am sorry to hear that NCG, I really am blessed to have the family I do. I am also very fortunate that my daughter in law has embraced the family legacy and has developed into an avid shooter.
