Sometimes Hunting Isn't About Hauling In Game

For some reason, my senses were heightened this year to my surroundings in the woods during our Iowa deer seasons. During late muzzleloader season we had some overnight fog that just glazed everything it touched. As I was walking back to deer camp I came across this view that stopped me in my tracks. I felt like I was standing in a Christmas card. This is the land where I grew up, hunted, worked on the family farm, and now have been reacquainted with it to love it again. We all need to take a moment to absorb the the beauty that surrounds us, I did that day, and was darn glad I did.

That would be a great picture to hang on a wall! Yep I love it when I get down to the country!

Know what you mean. To me it's more about getting out in the woods for a while, fresh air, scenery. Heck, I kill more time than anything else, LOL. Time well spent. Of course, I'm just an old country boy.

What a spectacular picture, thanks for posting it. Stopped in your tracks indeed.

Back when I was a bit younger I used to hunt Elk in the Selkirk mountains in NE Washington State. We were up pretty high and I loved to sit on a rock and watch the weather come up the valley from Sullivan Lake. Saw some pretty views.

Your picture is down right Norman Rockwell (ish). :D

That is a great idea...spring turkey season, summer just for the fun of it, and fall turkey. I hunt with my younger brother of 14 yrs, as we reminisced about our youth working on the farm, we both agreed, we had it made back then...we just didn't know it. :D

Hunting can be a great experience, but enjoying this kind of beauty is priceless.
