While we were doing the Memorial Day Services there was a break midway for sandwiches, and then
when we were done more sandwiches and beer. I seldom drink during the day, but I did enjoy a beer
with them. Then home and I had a Hamm's while waiting supper. Supper was pork ribs over Saur Kraut
slowly roasted and the BBQ sauce basted on just before serving. It's one of my favorite meals. Another
Hamm's with supper. BURP!
Later on a martini and strawberry shortcake.

It was a good day and I slept very well.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Al, I have to tell you that it is one of my very favorite meals. My Mother used to make her own Saur Kraut
back in the old days along with her Mother and Sisters. They made wash tubs full of it and then canned it.
We ate it all Winter. Saur Kraut is not meant to be sour when you eat it. The stuff we get these days needs
to be rinsed with water to get a lot of that out. Then add a bit of brown sugar sprinkled over it in a roasting
dish. Add pork ribs on top and let it bake with the meat juice seeping down and flavoring the Kraut. When
the ribs are just about done Carol bastes them with BBQ sauce and then lets that thicken in the oven.

My Mother didn't have BBQ sauce. We had never heard of that in those days, but just the meat juices made
it really good.

Of course in those days they butchered their own pigs and rendered all the lard and such. Aaaahhh, the good
old days.

We actually get it at Walmart. It's in the cold case in a plastic bag. Never frozen. All Carol
does is put it in a calendar and wash it with fresh water for a few minutes.

Hey Coop,

Saw this Hamms Beer Bear for sale on our local site and thought of you. I have to say other that the classic Rainier ads from the 70’s the Hamms ads featuring the Beer Bear are probably the best beer ads. Enjoy your Hamms! :D
