M1907 military sling

I like to use a sling for steadying a rifle and have used the 1907 before. I ordered a Hunter brand one and received this. It appears to be a loop sling while saying it’s an authentic design.

This sling to me is designed to only be attached to the front. What am I missing here as far as knowing how to install/use it? I’m not a big fan of loop slings and can use any sling by just wrapping it around my forearm.

To get into a loop sling it takes much to long.

This is how I use a sling. Of course shouldered it’s a bit different but still works similar. My hand cradles the rifle and is not held. The sling pulls back on the rifle and I give it forward pressure. Works just like a loop sling but can be gotten into position in a second.

This is my favorite sling. It’s simple yet does the job.
