The Electro Beast is awake.......

Post by fortyshooter » Sat Dec 26, 2020 5:47 pm

Cool and dry in the house with the dry winter air so conditions perfect for the 400,000 volt Van de Graaf generator to do it's thing!
So I make sure my computer is off and safe distance away....ha nothing is safe in this room... and turn it on for a few minutes.

First big pop and Buster is long gone from here....smart dog! Easy 6 inch arcs to the small sphere and the power of the arc would shoot back to the base of machine. Also with my arc gun tube hooked up 14 inch arcs no problem with enough juice to get me thru the insulated handle..ouch!

Nothing deadly here at low amp static electricity but you will feel it if a direct hit! The room fills with that ozone smell in the air so I don't run it too long.
A shocking experience!! :D

Boys and their toys. I’m jealous.

Back in the mid or late 60's I got a small one for Christmas about a 4 inch diameter sphere and had some great fun with it and think I still have stuck away someplace. Always dreamed of getting a lab sized unit and found a company that made them about 12 years ago. Had a niece over during Christmas one year that had long hair and her hair went straight up and out! All kinds of cool little tricks you can do with it plus a great bug zapper indoors!

Looks cool. I like your laboratory too. But when you send your assistant Fritz to steal a brain for you, tell that idiot the jar is clearly marked "ABNORMAL BRAIN". Take the other one!!!

Forty, like RR, I thought of the old Frankenstein movie. If you bring a cadaver back to life, we need a video. LOL

I grew up poor but kind of electrically twisted so I had to make do with neon transformers .
Big ones will make about a 4" arc and hold it.
O, I can still smell the ozone,,,,,,

Later on I found some capacitors that were about a foot long and 6 inch in dia.
They cracked as loud as a 22 when discharged .
