Our "next door neighbor," Kansas City, KS, had a very sad day today. One of their police officers, a Captain and 17-year veteran of the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department, and an Army vet who served in Afghanistan, was shot & killed doing his daily job. He was serving the community today by responding to a reported drive-by shooting.
Please pray for the family members of this police officer, his friends and co-workers, and the KCKS community.

It's out of control.

My condolences.

It saddens me to add one more name to a growing list of prayer.
Rest in peace Captain Robert Melton, I pray for your family and brothers and sisters in blue.

Prayers for his family. So sad.

This should not be happening in our country. Our police are here to protect us and we have nut cases who want to kill them. Pray for the families who lose loved ones who are out there to protect the public and lose their lives doing their daily job. I thank the troopers when I see them in my LGS for what they do for us and tell them I think right now they have the toughest job in the country.

It has always been a dangerous job, but even more so today, so it seems. I have friends whose son is a state trooper and one heck of a nice guy because I have spoken with him. Prayers go out to all these families.

I was talking to a couple of RCMP ladies the other day and they commented how they feel the impact of what's going on and support their brothers and sisters in the USA.

I heard about it on the news. My condolences to the family.

It is a dangerous job and all of the active and retired peace officers that I know well knew that when they went into the profession.

That goes for military folks too.

Prayers for the family, co workers and friends of the deceased in this case and in others across the country and world.

PS: My late Grandfather's Dad (My late Mom's side.) was a New York policeman and he got killed in a robbery while on duty. Benefits were not what they are in THIS day and age even though that does NOT excuse a criminal and what he does to people and peace officers. My Grandfather was 11 years old at the time of his Dad's death and every single child in that family became a success in whatever profession (Military, law, a nun/teacher, police, etc.) that they chose to go into to. Their widowed Mother made sure of that, their Church helped and the Hibernian Society helped them too. ALL of the children worked after school and together as a family unit. I know a bunch about my Grandfather (Family history/heritage.) even though he died many years before I was born.
