Crazy Times

Post by BigAl52 » Mon Dec 21, 2020 9:37 pm

Ok about a week ago I think Bandit posted a similar post about the crazy prices on some leverguns for sale on Gunbroker. Ive been thinning the herd here at my house because I just have to much stuff. There isnt anyone after me to leave what I have in guns to. So when I saw that post about the prices the leverguns were going for I mentioned maybe I should just take the Remington Marlin in 357 I have and put it up for sale. Well I did just that. It sold for 1525.00 I could not believe it.

Wow that much for a Remlin! Wonder what the 1895 GS .45-70 would bring?

Congrats, Al. I sold the last 2 guns I wasn't using about a year or so ago. Guess I should have waited, LOL. Decided I need to thin my herd. Only thing left now, are guns I won't part with, until I kick the bucket.

Ive been collecting guns for quite some time. I still have enough to keep me happy until I cant see over the dirt any more. My wife told me that her dad once said if you are lucky some of youre stuff might end up in the bottom of someones closet. I have enough stuff. I had and still have some calibers I have more than one of. Recently I have sold off quite a few guns.

I went through a consolidation phase myself the last couple of years. Everything was going fine until I got down to the .22's where I only parted with one.

Sold off several guns this summer I decided I did not need and did pretty well. Only sold off 2 of my 22s but I have more than I will probably use.

BigAl, Glad your sale on the 357 went well for you. The thread I posted about crazy prices on Marlin lever rifles looks to still be going on. Congratulations!

Wow, $1525......

Let me put that in perspective for you. I had an original Marlin 1894C in .357 that I paid around $550 for and foolishly sold a few years later for $800. I was doing the ole’ happy dance patting myself on the back for making such a great investment. Ha! I sold it because it had a straight stock and I wanted all my Marlins to be pistol grip. Once again I say, “what was I thinking”

Congrats on the sale and JEBar said, enjoy some Texas fun. :D

That's amazing, Al. We've also been thinking of thinning the heard with some of our powder burning guns, since prices are so high and ammo is a problem. We're just not shooting them and don't see much changing anytime soon.

Our shooting has been all at home this year with the air guns and a little with some of the rimfires in the backyard, though we don't shoot the rimfires that much, either, with the ammo situation being what it is.
