Anyone here have one of those super fancy coolers. Like a Grizzly, Pelican or one you like. I know Yeti is a popular brand but there antigun and I wont buy one.

we bought our Yeti years ago and it works really well .... if I was in the the market today, I'd look at Grizzly, Pelican, Orca, and Rtic

I have a Pelican cooler. 30qt maybe? I don't remember. Its not a huge one, but I love it. Tough as heck, and keeps stuff cold for a long time.

And I think it's hilarious that people still think Yeti is anti gun. You are selling yourself short not entertaining Yeti products. Great stuff.

Im sure they are. But they are also not made in the USA and you can fact check that. I have researched quite a few at this point and I am finding there are other coolers out there that are USA made like the Pelican you have that are just as good.

Only thing I know for certain about Yeti coolers, is they are way too pricey for me. Give me a thick styrofoam cooler, I'm good to go.

You just dont understand Grunt Im trying to appease the better half. I cant tell you how many cheap coolers Ive bought and none of them hold ice very long. I have an entire garage full of them. Makes me grunt just thinkin about it

My better half would tell me I'm an idiot if I spent that much on a cooler. The main difference in them is how long they will keep ice, so, it all depends on your individual needs. Kinda like choosing a gun.

we bought our 180 qt way toooooo expensive Yeti cooler to meet a very specific need .... that being to haul $2,000+ worth of fresh steaks from South Dakota to NC for a week or longer each year .... it also meets secondary needs to keep food when we are camped at locations (ex: Lake Hills, TX) where it can be an hour's drive to the nearest large grocery store .... back in June of 2011 we bought the highly touted Igloo shown below .... by June of 2013 the effects of bouncing down the road had shaken it almost to pieces .... when it rained, it leaked and you could almost watch the ice melt on a hot day .... we replaced it with the Yeti and its still in use today .... its still sealed to the elements .... it still holds ice for long time .... based on performance, I wish we hadn't of wasted the money on an Igloo

I have wasted more money on buying other cheaper coolers. But we use it all the time. To buy a Pelican Yeti Orca Grizzly or one of the others for occasional use I would not do it. But we use one everytime we take the RV.

absolutely .... I would be hard pressed to buy an expensive cooler to take to the lake every once-in-a-while .... the demands to be placed on most equipment needs to be considered

I've bought several things from Rtic, both for personal use and as gifts. Everything from the 30 oz (32 oz?) tumblers and smaller commuter coffee cups to soft-sided super-insulated coolers. I used one of the smaller soft-sided one every day as a lunch pail at my Parks&Rec gig. Fantastic at keeping things cool/cold.

All that said, I have zero experience with their hard-sided product line, but they seem to get great reviews. Seems like they've just reverse-engineered what Yeti does.

All in all, great value in my experience so far...

You guys need to join the current century and get rid of the ice all together. I have a DC powered compressor fridge freezer and haven’t had to buy ice, drain water or, most importantly, throw out a bunch of ruined water-logged food in the eight years I have owned it. Obviously you need a power source like your truck or a 100 watt solar panel, it uses about 3 amps when cycling on and off with a typical 50% duty cycle. It is built tough to survive offroad driving, even in a trailer with junk suspension. However none are USA made to my knowledge. Mine is an ARB 50 quart Classic from Oz and it is a really “fine piece of kit”.
