A very Happy Veteran’s Day to all past, current and future wonderful people who choose to serve.
And a special personal nod to my Grandfather, Dad and Uncle. My Grandfather in his teens crossed the border from Saskatchewan CA and joined the US Army. He served from 1922 to 1952 and retired as a Captain from the USAF. My Dad served in the Army during the Korean War and my Uncle served as a Marine during the Vietnam War. Sadly all three are gone now and I have so many questions I never thought to ask when I had the chance.
Here is a pic of my Grandfather and his flag I have in my reloading room. I really need to get the picture into a nice frame. I don’t know what year this was taken but he looks pretty young to me.

I was poking around this morning and ran across a few more pictures. The first is my Grandfather and the pic is labeled 2nd World War in my Dad’s handwriting and the second is my Grandfather and my Dad. This picture is labeled Captain Bxxxxxxxx and Private Bxxxxxxxxx. My Dad told me that when he was stationed in Okinawa that his CO told them to wear civilian clothes not uniforms while on duty. My Dad was in the Air Force and stationed in Guam during the Korean War loading bombs on bombers. This is a pic of him loading practice bombs but I dont know where at. He is the fully clothed, dark headed person in the forefront of the picture.

Went to O'Charleys for my usual freeby there and hoped to see some WW2 guys as they seem to be brought there by family a lot and I was not disappointed. As I was waiting for a table, a guy hobbled by supported by a family member. He had a service hat on so I thanked him for his service. He look at my 25th Div. hat and stopped. He said in a quiet voice " You guys fought with Patton. He was a SOB." I agreed that he was. We fist bumped gently and, helped by his son(?), he hobbled out the door. Now I don't know if the 25th was in Europe but it does not really matter. So few of those guys left.

Someone with a patch could have been with Patton, but the unit was not. It was in the Pacific theater, the first to fight after the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor, since they were already stationed at Shofield Barracks on the islands. People do get moved around, so maybe that's how that came to be.
Regardless, bless him for his service & sacrifice. Not many WWIIs left, and same for Korea. Damn fine bunch!

Yes, thank you ALL veterans. Every year I call my friend Sam and tell him how much I appreciate his service. 49 years I've called Sam. I'll do it as long as long as we're both able. We go a long way back. That man is rock solid.
