Hover craft and model rockets!

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Nov 08, 2020 5:28 pm

Wife and I were walking Buster down at the soccer fields and I noticed something I had not seen since a 60's issue of Popular Mechanics magazine...a hover craft sitting in the field! The guy that owned it was also busy getting ready to set off a nice 3 ft. tall Estes model rocket.
We watched the rocket take off and it didn't bother Buster a bit and it worked as planned with shute popping open and landing 60 yds away.

Guy told me a drive belt that runs the fan on the hover craft was slipping and will have to repair it. Was a great ending to a Sunday late afternoon and a nice trip back to the 60's! Wish I had brought my ipad along for some good pics!

I wanted to build a hovercraft in the late 60s but never got around to it. By then we had moved into town and there was nowhere close to use it anyway. I still want a ducted fan aircraft like popular mechanics used to write about.

Awe yes the 60s, think I'll get some steel pipe and build another black powder cannon. How on earth we survived? Sounds like you and Buster had a good day.

Potato Guns! As grown men we used to terrify the neighborhood shooting at each other with them. :D
