Could pose the exact same question regarding lever guns and AR's.

I have zero interest in them, but I don’t see them going away any time soon. I prefer a LCP2 by FAR, over any wheel gun, for daily pocket carry. And that is the only reason for a small caliber snubby’s existence. (I don’t consider the chopped down SRH Alaskan to be a snubby since it was never intended to fit into a pocket....) I do have an SP101 .327, but it has the 4.2” barrel. I wish it were a little longer.

Great video Howard! I like the points you bring up for each side of the issue.
I've never felt under gunned with a revolver, especially if I have a NY reload handy for those "urban" environments that contain more potential threats. It also is fair to mention that I have never had to practice a malfunction drill with a revolver. My 640 pro series is a constant companion.
I learned on a wheel gun and tend to prefer them. I have semi automatic handguns that are also excellent concealed carry guns. I have always come back to my preferred gun of choice. A Smith and Wesson J frame in a Mika pocket holster. For me, that is best.

Even though I carry a Springfield XDE 45 a lot of time I do like and carry my snubbies too!

I do have a CT permit to carry; but so far I've lived nearly seventy years without ever being in a situation where I or anyone I've ever known has needed one. And I question my skill, my judgement, and my fortitude to perform adequately if that ever does happen. Beyond that, there are no national or state forests or properties in CT where anyone other than law enforcement is permitted to carry a firearm anyway, even for self-defense against potentially threatening animals. So, I won't own one to carry it.

But, my next firearm will be a snub-nosed revolver, either a S&W or Ruger .357 with a 3" barrel, to keep at the ready at home and hopefully only to shoot at paper -- and I'm looking forward to it.

I absolutely believe in snubbies. I know two folks who carry them regularly in the summer heat. One carries a 642 airweight 38, and the other the 340 scandium 357, affectionately known as, "The Beast." In cold weather I'll carry the P220 45 in a shoulder holster but the beast often tags along in an outside winter coat pocket.

My carry rotation are Glock 43 9mm and S&W 642 airweight. 90% of the time it's the 642 cause it's just light and handy

Lucky man. I have, in several different States in the last 50 years or so. And every time was unique.

It's been pretty peaceful for the last 10years or so. Just to clarify, most of the other times did not require pulling a trigger. But you never know how it will go. The opposition (animal or human) gets a vote also.

I never was a big fan of very short handgun barrels but I do like to shoot revolvers. They just seem to come more naturally to point for me, probably because I have a lot of experience with them. My shortest barrel is a 3" on a SS Rossi model 88.
The only thing I like better about semi autos is how quick and easy they are to clean. Scrubbing out 6 chambers can be more of a chore than one detached barrel.
Not obsolete, snubby revolvers can provide good defense up close and personal. No mechanical safety but still safe, simple to operate, reliable.

I recently responded to another forum thread on the very subject you mentioned. I kind of got scolded or scalded for stating I carried a 5 shot revolver as my choice in conceal carry. I made no further responses to that thread on that forum and I will continue to carry my 5 shot Ruger LCRx in .38

l am almost 70 yr. old and every time I have attended my gun club handgun shooting events, I see experienced shooters who have jams and fail to feed issues with their semi-auto pistols. I have also seen squib loads in both revolvers and semi-auto pistols. In fact, over the years I have experienced two squib loads in a revolver - both times with Winchester factory ammo. For these reasons, I have chosen to carry my 5 shot revolver loaded with carefully prepared hand loads. At 70 I am already at a big disadvantage and thank the Lord I have lived a good life. I will trust the Lord and my 5 shot hand loaded revolver - win or lose.
