Hot and humid with thundershowers in the forecast for today. I had my coffee in my new John Deere Model "B" mug that I received from a friend. I still have my old John Deere and manure spreader from 1953. The only toy remaining from my childhood.Image

Putting one foot in front of the other on a mountain trail is about all I can handle at the moment. I go hiking every Thursday and also joined an urban hiking group where we hike 6 to 13 miles in the evenings around local parks. So I'm hiking about 50 miles every week and will gain up to 10,000 feet.

What a beautiful lake scene, especially with the snow and mountains in the background. Thanks!

Those are nice shots Sir Henry. Beautiful scenery.

Last Sunday the fiance and climbed Panther mountain. Here is a link to the description and location.

http://www.saranaclake.com/recreation/h ... r-mountain

It used to take me around 35 to 45 minutes to climb up. It's uphill all the way. No flat spots.

I climbed up to the top in 14 minutes last Sunday. I'm walking 8 - 10 miles a day. We climbed two mountains last week. The other one was a fire tower outside Long Lake. I don't remember the name of it. Nice views though.

Good to see you are out and hiking too Dave. The camera around my neck isn't just for decorations. I took this picture of the rare Northern Spotted Owl.

In the wild brown/black bears aren't very aggressive toward humans and would just as soon be someplace else if they can smell you. So I don't carry anything. Now a brown bear has been spotted almost daily in my neighborhood. Last week it was in my backyard.

We also saw a Blue Grouse. Not a very good angle but you get what you get.

I haven't seen a bear in any areas I've hiked or fished in. If I expect to see a bear, while not hunting, I carry a 6" S&W 629 .44 magnum. I'm going to break out my safe queen this year, a 4" model 29 nickel .44 mag. It's too much carrying the 629. It has to go in a shoulder holster and gets cumbersome sometimes.

Nice photographs SH. I like them both.

At least you can now carry in a National Park but the only thing I've ever taken was a sling shot.

Mere peasant here. I had some stuff to do early this morning, so I am late getting on this thread.
Morning...er....afternoon all from Jonesboro, GA. No other way to say it, 93 degrees is just hot. No rain yesterday, but hopefully today. Was going to try out my new to me Silver Boy .22 today, but looks like that will not happen. Next opportunity will be Wednesday. Take care and be safe.

Ninety three degrees isn't going to happen here. The forecast is for rain for the next five days.

60* a little after 6 AM. Having my coffee and some yogurt and getting ready to leave home to go to the York Nostalgia National drag races at Beaver Springs, Pa. The weather is supposed to be nice so hopefully a good day for the races. I get pretty excited seeing the older cars like I used to drive run at the drag races. The Mopar boys will be out in force at this race. Got to love the old cars that run the Nostalgia Super Stock circuit. I like cars from early 50's up to the early '70's but I also like the old '40 Willy's and '40 Fords that still show up with the big block Chevy's and Chrysler Hemi engines in them. There is going to be a lot of '50's gasser class cars today also. Maybe I can get a few pictures.

It's cool and dry (the air at least) for a change. I'm enjoying some percolated coffee.

I hope your day is good. We are going to look at bikes today.
