Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
Re: Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
Is this procedure less invasive than the removal process? Hope so. Best wishes.
Re: Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
Gene was the kidney cancer discovered by something that changed with you or was it a blood test that gave you the first clue.

Re: Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
Yes it’s barely invasive compared to opening me up.
My doctor was pro-active and because I’ve had prostate cancer she guessed I might have other cancers. With kidney cancer it’s too late to do much if you wait till you have symptoms. Often you only live a month from when you get symptoms.

Re: Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
My Mother had a large tumor removed many years ago and the Doctor said he'd just given her ten more
years to live. My brother said that's she'd steal another ten, and she did indeed. Lived to 94.
Hang in there Gene.

Thanks all. I’m hoping to live long enough to shoot all my ammo and then die the next day.

I usually keep a ten year supply on hand and replace ammo as I shoot.

Re: Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
I leave for Madison in the morning to check into a motel. Then at 2 pm I drink the wonderful bowel cleaning fluid. Tuesday morning I check into the VA hospital at 5:30 am for a 7 am surgery start. They have blocked out 5 hours for robotic microsurgery. It’s not complicated but it is tedious. I’m not expecting complications although I’ll have a 4-6 week recovery I should be fine.
I suspect my next post will be Wednesday.

You’re under the knife (robot?) as I type this so I’m sending good karma your way. Here’s to a successful procedure and a fast recovery.

Re: Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
The surgery is over and took a little over five hours. They removed about 40% of one kidney. It’s painful and they keep me pumped full of drugs.

Hang in there Gene. Is that a little more than they expected to do?

Hoping you heal up soon Gene!
Re: Stage 2 Kidney Cancer and Cataracts
Ditto. How long before you will be able to drive home? I'm sure you will have plenty of help once there.
