Yanks beat the Tigers today so now they are 3 and 2. They are to be on ESPN Sunday night so I'll try to watch.

M's lost again last night. Our fielders are like a bunch of Little Leaguers. No wait, the Little League has better talent. Twice our centerfielder got to the ball in time but didn't catch it. And the infield can't even catch a simple one-hopper.

I miss the days when Ken Griffey Jr. would start his run at the crack of the bat. These guys stand around watching it for a couple seconds trying to figure out where its going. And then they miscalculate.

Ahhh yes. Baseball, the original "America's Pastime". Warm temps, smell of freshly cut grass, sounds of the bat hitting the ball, the sound of the ball hitting the catcher's mitt. Well, none of that matters if you are a Braves fan. Let's properly analyze the Braves. Starting pitching, fair to poor at best. Middle relief, what middle relief?. Closers, poor to just horrible. Infield defense, average to below average. Outfield defense, average at best. It really doesn't matter who is playing for the Braves, the Braves will rank last or close to last in average, runs scored and home runs. The over/under on how many games the Braves win should be 60. Right now, I would take the under. So, GO BRAVES! (sarcasm font not working)

Back in the days when the M's played in the Kingdom people would yell, "Go M's, and take the Sonics with you". Who wanted to sit in a concrete building watching baseball when the sun was out?

:) Bottom of the 10th and game tied at 3-3 this afternoon...
Pinch runner got to third base by a wild pickoff throw from the pitcher...
Two outs...
Pitcher again erred with a wild pitch...
Game-winning run came sliding across home plate! :)

Wow, what a game finish to a 3-0 series sweep!
Final score -- KC Royals 4 and MN Twins 3.

OK. Four-game series starts tomorrow away @ Astros.

PostScript
Forgot to mention that in second game of series, pitcher Ian Kennedy made his Royals debut.
Pitched almost 7 shutout innings, allowed only 5 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 7.
A pretty good debut!

The baseball season is fun!

M's loose their third in a row. The fielding is killing them. Players aren't running for the ball but just letting it one-hop.

The juggernault that is the Atlanta Braves, was on display for everyone to see yesterday, and they did not disappoint. They lost the 5th in a row to start the season 0 wins and 5 losses. Yesterday, like all the other days, poor starting pitching, poor defense, poor middle relief and poor hitting, guaranteed a loss. Oh, did I mention that the Braves traded away most of the talent they had to get ready to move into a new ballpark next year. I would like to personally thank the ownership of the Braves for making this season a total loss. Great job guys! (again, the sarcasm font does not seem to be working)

The Yankees-Tigers game was postponed last night. The Baltimore Orioles are off to a good start so far with a 5-0 record. Since I live in their broadcast area I can get their games on TV. They are to play the Red Sox today at 2:00ET, so weather permitting, I may watch it. In this area we have Orioles, Pirates, Nationals and Phillies fans, and a few Yankees fans.

The Astros won their home opener tonight, but at the Royals expense.
Houston took the game 8-2.

A little bit of a slide (not into bases!) for KC this game. :(

The Braves lost their 6th game of the season last night. 6th loss in 6 games played. The good news, is that the Braves are only 4.5 games behind the division leader. Braves fans should revel in the fact that this may be as close to the leader of the division as they will get.

M's lost their 4th in a row and are 0 and 4 at home. They gave up 14 hits to the Rangers.

Top of the first inning in the series second game, KC vs. Astros.

Must have been a good pep talk by the Royals manager after last night's loss. Cain just popped a 3-run homer to start the game.
Only 8 innings to keep it!

If this sounds like a repeat of my previous posts, well, it is. Braves loose 2-1. The seventh game lost out of seven games played. The front office keeps saying that the "Braves are playing good baseball". Really? I thought good baseball meant winning. It was an entertaining game.

Well, the 3-run homer in the first inning by Cain held for the remaining 8 innings.
Astros also had 2 runs in the first.
That first inning was the end of the scoring.

Rest of the innings went slowly by with zip additional runs.
KC 3 -- Houston 2

The "W" is still good no matter how ya get there!

Sir Henry, I feel your pain......except that your team has won this year. Yes, the Braves are perfect for the season, 0 wins - 8 losses. Not much else to say.
