Re: How did you choose your forum name?
I used to spend a lot of time fishing for bonefish in the Florida Keys. One particular flat just below Islamorada had a big Stuckey's Restaurant billboard sticking out into the water so we named that the Stuckeys Flat. Caught a lot of bones on that flat and not many days go by that my mind doesn't wander back to those days.
If you think fly fishermen are strange, try talking to a mushroom hunter.
Re: How did you choose your forum name?
I chose the name due to my favorite occupation. I love fishing rivers in Colorado. I will fish wherever I am. I am in East Central Nebraska, and headed back to Colorado tomorrow. Taking my flyfishing gear with me.
I will only be there a week or two, but will make it to a stream! If you have not had your line freeze in the eyelets, you are a fair weather fisherman!

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

That's was when I knew it was time to put the fly rod away, climb out of the river, and head for the diner. HOT coffee, HOT cakes, and HOT links.Cofisher wrote:I chose the name due to my favorite occupation. I love fishing rivers in Colorado. I will fish wherever I am. You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I'm perfectly happy to acknowledge being in that classification ..

Having ridden my motorcycle, and fished, at temperatures below zero I am pretty sure there is a question about sanity involved. But, hey, what the heck. Why not?

Re: How did you choose your forum name?
How did I choose my handle? Years ago, 1960's I did a lot of shooting, reloading one weekend and burning up the ammo the next weekend. Shot in large bore matches with a pre64 , Model 70 30-06. I got drafted in 1969, sent to Vietnam as an infantryman, served as a sniper in the 25th Inf. Div., due to me combat experiences I lost my love for shooting. Stayed in the Army until late 1979. I just had no interest in shooting. Last year I had a thought that I had short changed my son and grandsons by not teaching them the things I know, shooting being just one of them. I had a conversation with my son, 45 years old, and asked him if he would be interested in going hunting and shooting with me and his boys. He was exstatic, said he had wanted to for years but didn't say anything because of my feelings. So the decision was made to find a couple of guns, some ammo and just get to it. I bought two Ruger pistols and a .22 Marlin from my older brother, a Pedersoli Sharps from a major store, then a Henry Frontier and headed for the range. I found that I could still find and hold a good sight picture and hit what I was shooting at. My oldest grandson said that he was impressed that a mature man of my years could do that with no practice. So the mature shooter was born. Long story, sorry.
