that picture looks cold .... that much snow would literally parallelize our part of the country from the time fell until it melted .... no way our folks have the equipment to move it

It's more normal to see a winter like this one. The heavy snow makes for good hay in the summer! This photo was taken this morning. It is a separate building from our house. Just used for storage but was a store at one time before me lived here. The deck is nice in the summer to sit on and clean guns.

Do you have to remove snow from the roof? It looks pretty deep on the porch roof.

Down here we had a huge snowfall back in the mid 90's, had over 3' on the ground, much roof snow removal was done, also a lot of front end loaders were being used as streets and parking lots were running out of room for snow piles.

-17f this morning. I only ever had to shovel a roof once. Feb 2017. Got 4 feet of snow in 48 hrs. Then went from -25 to +40 overnight. Snow gained a bit of weight.
There will be a 50mph wind in a day or two that clears the roof.

All of our snow is gone but just 50 and 60 miles away the two passes have 47 nd 53 inches on the ground. Its nice to live in a more temperate zone but be able to enjoy winter sports just an hour away.

About 100 miles away we have the Mt. Baker Ski Area.

The ski area is home to the world's greatest recorded snowfall in one season, 1,140 inches (95.0 ft; 29.0 m), recorded during the 1998–99 season.[

Eighteen below zero this morning at 8:00 up here in Wisconsin's banana belt, the high for the day will be below zero, and colder tonight. No shooting of new Henry rifles will occur anytime soon. But there should be a January thaw to look forward to, at some point .

We get our irrigation water from the Mission Ridge drainage, over the last 30 years there's only been a couple of years that the late Summer water supply has been really low.

Luckily the worst of the cold snap has missed us. Had some mid-teens for a few days, it's supposed to get up to 40 today which should get rid of the inch of snow we have on the ground now.

Goats are happy. They're all out standing in the sunshine enjoying the warmth, although they do fine in the cold.

sorry to hear it ..... I've been there and done that with a shoulder and a knee .... surgery followed by some serious physical therapy can do wonders

My shoulder is OK as long as I don't get stupid and try throwing anything overhand. It's been almost 3 years since my right knee replacement and it's been great. Couldn't walk more than 5 minutes without extreme pain before and now it's completely pain free.

that is great to hear .... I'm a little over 4 months into what they have told me to be a year long recovery from having my left knee replaced .... I'm certainly looking forward to getting to discomfort free stage

I was actually pretty pain free within 3 months, although it hurt so bad before the surgery that it felt better post op within a month or two. I was back to league bowling 3 times a week at just over 4 months, I'm right handed so wasn't sliding or bending much with my right leg.

My surgeon actually told me that if I was very good about doing my stretches at home I didn't need to go to to PT. Had a therapist come to my home a couple times to show me what to do and then I did them at least 4 times a day, they weren't terribly painful, could do most of them lying on the couch.

Now I have almost full range of motion and the only thing that bothers me is kneeling, it's not bad if I keep most of my weight on the other knee or have some padding on the bad knee. The doctor told me I couldn't hurt anything by kneeling, it just wasn't something I would really want to do.

My son clears snow from a power line on the roof of the garage. Did not get near the line of course, but cleared some snow so it wasn't stretched tight. -20F tonight, arctic blast supposed to break tomorrow. Enough snow to spare if anyone wants some?

I don't have any any pain or discomfort replacement knee with the knee itself .... mine comes from the muscles and other tissues on the sides of the replacement joint .... they had to be pulled, pushed and moved during the surgery and are still settling back in

Yes. I found a pretty graphic video of a knee replacement surgery online. Probably a good thing I didn't see it until after my surgery. They had the guy's knee cap turned over almost 180 degrees.

Did you have bruises on the bottom of your foot from them hammering the new lower knee joint in?

no bruises and a very surprisingly small scar .... the surgeon told me pretty much what to expect and so far, he's been pretty much on the money

Minus seven f here presently. Might go up to ten. We are going xcountry skiing today. Brrr.

Coffee with plain Jane and a proper breakfast. Grits with cheese, eggs and toast. It's becoming a Sunday staple. A little garlic salt in the grits water wakes them up a bit too.
