We tried the French Onion Dip on our potato and really enjoyed it, so thanks again!

glad y'all like .... in some parts of the country you can buy sour cream with chives .... years ago I tried some and liked it .... tried to make my own but the taste simply wasn't right .... that's when I decided to French Onion Dip and actually like it better .... the good news is, Deans and other good French Onion Dip is readily available most everywhere

I think I’ve had it before on baked potatoes. My biggest problem is not having a large menu of things I know how to fix or even think of fixing.

So yes simple things like this really helps.

Kept it real simple last night. Burger patties, Bushes Maple Cured baked beans and fruit salad from the deli (coleslaw for my wife). Nice 15 minute meal.

We actually used the French Onion dip that we buy for chips. The brand is ' Heluva Good! '. Probably wrong on the spelling.

we do the same .... for our taste, with commercial French Onion Dip, Heluva Good! is just fine .... very much on par with Dean's and we happily take which ever one the store we are shopping happens to stock .... I do remember trying a house brand that wasn't good ... since then we look for Dean's or Heluva Good

We usually eat late, ( some time between 6:30 & 7:30 ). Tonite, as to not miss any of the game, we will eat early and light.
What is planned are Oysters on the half and little Pigs in Blanket. Will wash that down with a Shock Top or two.
Might steal one of those Oysters for a shooter. (One Oyster, Absolute Pepper Vodka, Zing Zang BM mix and Old Bay around the rim of a lime soaked tall shooter glass...yum.

My biggest problem is not having a large menu of things I know how to fix or even think of fixing.

My Ex had some Psychological problems along with a drinking problem, and I think she was afraid she might
be put back in a hospital for it, so she took our two children and disappeared while I was at work. Her lawyer
found me of course and I ended up paying a lot of support, but it was five years before I found my children
or had any contact with them. Then all of a sudden I had full custody and finished raising them.

So the reason I tell you that sad story is this, at first I was so broke I couldn't afford to eat out, so I learned to
cook. For a while about all I could afford were beans and baloney, but I learned how to doctor them up so they were
pretty good. Then I started on hot dishes. Layer some ground beef browned with onions, potatoes, corn, repeat and then
top with cheese bake in the oven until the cheese is brown. Easy. Then Hobos. Beef patties with sliced potatoes,
onions, peppers, and butter wrapped in foil. 45 minutes at 450 degrees. Ate that along with some doctored up pork and beans. Good.

I found that it was fun and rewarding as well. Not everything I tried was good. Some flopped, but so what. I learned
every time I tried something new.

Give it a shot.

You're killing me. I love oysters. Carol has a collection of oyster shells that she brought home from one of our trips
south, and she makes baked oysters on them. One oyster, garlic butter, a piece of jalapeno, and cheese. Broil till
the cheese is brown and bubbly. Love them!

Problem is getting fresh oysters around here. What Carol does is freeze them. That works pretty good, but fresh
is always better.

One never knows when they might find themselves in a position of having to cook for themselves all the time.
Not to mention being financially stable enough to eat well.
I know Gene is currently dealing with that, and apparently, very well, so good for him!!

Sometimes I don't eat until 10:00 or later. But I rarely go to bed before 2 or 3, get up by 11 most mornings. Always been a night owl but had to be at work at 6AM. When I retired I decided that unless absolutely necessary I would not get up earlier than 9.
