Outer Banks NC just announced it will be CLOSED to out of town visitors!!! Wow! Check points setup in Dare County.
https://triblive.com/news/world/outer-b ... bHDEYi6Oqc
Got our first case in MY County (Monroe) today! Sure wish they had been more precise, Monroe is a big county.

21 total for MS now. No outcomes yet.

Just found out that the Monroe case is a Tronox employee. The Tronox plant is in Hamilton - where I live - and about 2 miles from my house. I really wish we had found out about this last Wednesday when he was sent home with a fever. A lot of the employees eat lunch at either the only gas station or the one restaurant we have, and I patronize both almost daily.
And I wonder where he caught it from? You can have it and spread it before symptoms show up
I suppose the docs know, and probably any family and friends. Don't know if he lives here or commutes from nearby towns/county, so a lot of folks could be at risk. We'll find out in a week or so if he spread it around. I forgot to link the story so here tis:

A Northwest restaurant chain has closed, laying off over 3000 employees. The TV here has 14 cases.

Talked to one of my neighbors this evening. I might ad that I'm surrounded by three nurses that work in the three hospitals nearby. Right off the bat, she said, " We are ALL going to get it " how we are affected will be the difference.
Pretty disturbing as the wife and I are in the high risk group...age wise.

.
Have 3 medical professionals in the family. Say the same thing. Kids have quarantined us and told us not to leave the house. I snuck outside to the front of the house to cut some crown molding for the basement. Have a few groceries on order for home delivery, staggered over the next 2 weeks.

A little concerned. Went out briefly yesterday to the local supermarket and again today briefly to the local spirit store.
Definitely used wipes, and washed well when I got home, however, how much is good enough?
Kinda scary, especially after talking to my nurse neighbor this evening.

If it gets bad, I’ll blow the culvert at the end of the cul-du-sac to keep the marauders out.

I’m actually trying to convince the wife that we should head to the mtns, but she says we aren’t supposed to travel.. I’ve tried explaining that isn’t the travel they are talking about.
Won't be too much longer PW, we'll be heading up to the mountain summer cabin/fortress. Never used to think of it as such, but ,Ya never know. Will keep Ya in mind! :D
Well we will get up there. It’s evidently just going to take more convincing than it should.

Things always seem to get confusing. The wife is an accountant who works out of home. They have extended the tax deadline now, sooo, that means, maybe longer before we can head up to the mountain cabin.
This is all testing my patience. Safe thing to do in my opinion, is GO!...we'll see.

Let's all take whatever precautions we can, not worry about things we can't control and remember: this too shall pass. Stay safe out there.

Yep what will be will be, all we can do is look after ourselves and hope for the best.
Just wish the idiots who are panic buying would wake up to themselves, supermarkets are stripped bare here. They have reduced opening hours and have pensioner only hour for the first hours trading. Totally stuffs us as with wife and I both working multiple jobs we have zero access to do any shopping in the hours now available.
Doesn't really worry me greatly as we won't starve, reasonable veggie garden at home, 50 breeding cows and 100 sheep at the farm but still need to purchase other things.

Daughter is at university 100km away, they are still going at this stage but who knows for how long. Only had one lesson cancelled so far and that was today and on infectious diseases.
Son if 2500km away in the Army, they were given yesterday off and told to go home and sort out their affairs as from today they may be deployed without notice.

Placed a grocery order with Stop and Shop Peapod this morning. Delivery on 3/31 includes TP and Kleenex. Likely the plan for several months to come. I've pretty much been a recluse since my wife died three years ago, so for me, this newly mandated isolation is just business as usual. Me and my cat! We get along just fine.

For the most part everyone has behaved themselves in this thread but we have decided to close it anyway. It serves no purpose to keep it open.

I’m sure most people are keeping up with the news. Should the virus actually touch someone you can post about it and ask for thoughts and prayers but leave all opinions and numbers out of the post.

On the lighter side I’ve heard that even the lowly .22LR can kill the virus but shot placement is critical. So go outside and shoot your Henrys.

FYI

It is being reported by medical professionals (The American Academy of Otolaryngology) that strong anecdotal evidence suggests a loss of smell and/or a loss of taste is one of the symptoms of Covid-19, even in people who present no other symptoms. It is recommended that those people should isolate and seek testing.
https://www.entnet.org/content/coronavirus-disease-2019-resources wrote:Anecdotal evidence is rapidly accumulating from sites around the world that anosmia [loss of smell] and dysgeusia [loss of taste] are significant symptoms associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Anosmia, in particular, has been seen in patients ultimately testing positive for the coronavirus with no other symptoms. We propose that these symptoms be added to the list of screening tools for possible COVID-19 infection. Anosmia, hyposmia, and dysgeusia in the absence of other respiratory disease such as allergic rhinitis, acute rhinosinusitis, or chronic rhinosinusitis should alert physicians to the possibility of COVID-19 infection and warrant serious consideration for self-isolation and testing of these individuals.
