Happy Birthday Dave. Turned 65 in August myself and was really glad. Company I work for had Kaiser ins. Im not real fond of going to them and refused to go anyway as I have been seeing a DR I like for 30 years. I paid out of my own pocket a few times till 65 now I can see him again with no strings. Al

I'm pretty lucky, worked for a school district for 35 years so I'm considered a state employee and have a retired state employee group rate policy with Regence Premera. Will go down some now that I have Medicare, still more expensive than advantage and Part D's but does not have the prescription donut hole that they all have. The retail cost of my Insulin is crazy expensive, close to $2500 a month. I only have a $20 copay. Insulin cost in the US is 5 times what it is in Canada and Europe.

Re: Birthday Thread!
well, 1 year since the ablation and all's well and we are planning to leave next week to tow our camper to Texas for the winter .... to be honest, until my wife mentioned it, I didn't realize it has been a year ... I have a followup appointment scheduled right after we get back in March .... sure hope things continue in a positive directionJEBar wrote:good wishes appreciated .... its really good being back home after spending a few days at Duke University Medical Center following a little over 6 hours of surgery .... I have seized and occupied my chair where I will be spending a good bit of time over the next few days ..... back in 2009 I came down with both A-flutter (Atrial flutter) and A-fib (Atrial fibrillation) .... I was told that it was caused by having sleep apnea and coming down with the flu ....since then I've been in and out of the hospital as they tried various medications which would work for a while .... also had one trip to the hospital where they used Electrical cardioversion to shock my heart back in rhythm .... that lasted about a week .... the chance of the surgery correcting the A-Flutter are over 90%, the chance of the surgery correcting the A-Fib are a bit over 70% .... if necessary they can go back in and take care of it .... I'm pretty well restricted for a few days .... now we can get back to making plants to head for Texas in a couple of weeks

Re: Birthday Thread!
PT7 and I became long distance friends after meeting on this forum. For the last couple of years, we've written or talked on the phone almost every week, and though we've never met, I think of him as a dear friend, one with whom I have so much in common, not the least of which is that neither of us will have a happy birthday this year. We both lost our beloved wives this past July; his from Parkinson's Disease; mine from Cancer. We still mourn that loss and cry every day.RetiredSeabee wrote:Happy birthday to two of our "seasoned" members CT_Shooter, and PT7.
God bless you, PT7. It is a pleasure to know you. And peace be with Joyce and Annie, forever.

Happy Birthday, JEBar! That's the very Birthday cake my wife asked me to bake for her each year, though I always used the kitchen oven.JEBar wrote: finally got the charcoal lit and I'm happy to say my birthday cake turned out nicely ....
