My M's just can't seem to win a game with the Rangers. Well they did win one out of six.

I haven't updated in a bit.....the Giants are sitting 7 games up over the Dodgers in the NL West.
Tomorrow I'm taking my Dad to the game for his 88th birthday. I have a town car picking us up at home to take us to and from the game. They are playing the Phillies.

We had a great day with my Dad.
The Giants won 8-7 on a walk off single in the 9th inning.
8 games up on the Dodgers now.

This thread has died.....
Going into the home stretch of the season and my Giants are losing steam. They are a 1/2 game out of first and struggling.

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
Sorry, Coach.
I lost interest in the baseball season a long time ago when the Cubs jumped out to a 13 game lead over my Cardinals.
Of course, as of today, the Cards and the Giants would have the two wildcard slots and get to play each other in the play-in game.

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
I watched the game between the Giants and the Pirates and I thought that with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, nobody out and with Buster Posey up that the Giants might just at least get the two runs that they needed to tie, but unfortunately Posey hit into the double play and only one scored. Yes, I agree, the Giants have fallen on hard times lately. I am just a fan of the game, but I have always liked the Yankees and Phillies because I used to live close enough to attend home games. But I like the Cardinals too and they are right in the wild card race and have a little winning streak going but are faced with some injuries. At least they took 2 out of 4 from the Cubs the last time they met.
Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
I've never seen this thread before tonight! Glad it was resurrected right when my Pirates decided to fight for a wild card spot. It's looking like they actually have a chance after a mostly mediocre season.

Giants won last night over the Met's 10-7.
Bumgarner gave up a Grand Slam in the top of the 4th making the score 4-0. He then hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 4th to put the Giants ahead 5-4.
I went from Bumming to fired up in one inning.

The M's are almost in the running and only need to pick up two games to be the second wild card. I watch almost every game on TV.

And now the Pirates decide to start throwing away their chance at a post season.....
Bad enough two years in a row they've lost in the wild card play-in game (which by the way is the dumbest thing ever), now they want desperately to be the first time out of a wild card spot.

It's only the dumbest game ever if your team loses.JCN wrote:And now the Pirates decide to start throwing away their chance at a post season.....

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
That's very true, and they lost two years in a row! I think it's dumb because whoever has the best ace wins. The last two years the Pirates went up against Bumgarner and Arieta who were arguably the best pitchers in baseball in the respective seasons. How is that a fair way to decide who makes the 4th playoff spot? I think it should be at least a 3 game playoff. OK enough ranting

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
If they made it a 3 game series the wild card winner would be depleted of their best 2 or 3 pitchers.
As it is the winner has to start the next series with the #2 starter

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
I watched that Pirates-Marlins game the last two nights. The Yankees are out on the west coast, leading the Angels 5-0 at the present time. A really close race right now between the Blue Jays, Orioles and Red Sox. Should be interesting toward the end of the season if it stays this way, they have been "neck and neck" all season. I guess there aren't many Yankee fans on here,
I have been a fan since around 1957. But I am just a fan of the game and I like the Phillies too.

This 4 game losing streak isn't helping the bucs chances....

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
The Pirates should have never experimented with moving McCutchen to the No. 2 spot in the batting order. I think that's what's led to his terrible year.JCN wrote:This 4 game losing streak isn't helping the bucs chances....
The Cubs are a dang machine! Really surprised the Dodgers were able to hold them off today.
Looking forward to some good divisional battles and wild-card races the rest of the way.

Not that I am a Cubs fan, just a fan of the game and a Yankees and Phillies fan, but after all these years of rooting for a losing team, the past few have given something for their fans to really be excited about.
