Those big boulders are called erratic rocks. Washington State has some in the middle of wheat fields as big as a house. They look odd like they don’t belong there. Builders call them leverrites as in leave her right there.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 8:32 amMostly Cloudy, 30°F, Humidity 86%

Most folks don't know about the "Driftless Area". We live just on the edge of it. If I
go a few miles east there are riles of debris. Those glaciers had a lot of power.
I have several extremely large boulders that decorate my garden and at the end of the drive.

Here’s a pic of Sir Henry’s leverrites bolders. This was taken in central Washington when my wife and I took a trip to explore the results of the Great Flood Mags spoke of.
Today it’s 31 again, seems to the the go to tempature right now. Yesterday we didn’t get out of the gloom and my wife and I spent a good part of the day researching the changes in our Medicare Advantage Plan. Last night I realized I didn’t even get dressed and was still wearing my comfy’s that I put on in the morning.
More of the same today but I promise to get dressed.
I do have some cleanup put away tasks from my burning otherwise I plan to watch the two playoff games and Gonzaga basketball airs at the same time as the Seahawks game so the Zags will be recorded.
Flood strewn bolders near Ephrata WA. You can see why they are called leverrites, leave them right there and let cattle graze in between them.

53 at 1PM Sat Jan 17th .... 7MPH wind with 15MPH gust .... anticipated high 55 before falling back to an overnight low of 39 .... overnight subfreezing nights for the following 9 consecutive days .... for tomorrow, "Periods of rain changing to a couple of hours of snow in the morning, accumulating a coating to an inch; colder with considerable cloudiness" .... because the word "snow" is in the forecast, the customary run on gas stations and grocery stores is in full swing .... we've already hauled two loads to the dump .... 4-wheel drive vehicles parked headed out the driveway
