The Adult Evening Beverage
Re: The Adult Evening Beverage
I'm a fan of Bombay Sapphire, but it's a bit too pricey for every day drinks. Tanquray is also excellent but it's in the same price league as Bombay. For everyday martini's I was using Booths London Dry, but the Virginia ABC no longer has it available. (Don't get me started on state run ABC stores.) I was planning to try the New Amsterdam gin since I had a few recommendations from friends.
As for Vermouth i buy the big bottle since I use it for cooking in place of wine. Vermouth is a fortified wine (added alcohol) and will keep for ages. In my martini's I just use a small splash.
Martini Recipe: 1 good healthy jigger (2-2 1/2 oz.) of gin over ice, splash of vermouth. Stir well, strain into a chilled glass with olive. Enjoy! (Gonna try the tomatoes this week while we still have a few cherry tomatoes left from the garden.)

On the rare occasion I enjoy a Martini, it's Vodka, not Gin.

Not very James Bondish. Gin is probably good for cleaning paint brushes as well. If so, use the cheap stuff.markiver54 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 1:10 pmOn the rare occasion I enjoy a Martini, it's Vodka, not Gin.
Hey, I do recommend that you try just a little green pepper in your martini. Doesn't have to be Jalapeno. Tasty.
I used to live in Virginia and have to endure the state store. What we usually did was venture into DC and by a
big supply. Course there were those state guys trying to catch you bringing back more than allowed.

Re: The Adult Evening Beverage
It has been a long day for an old guy. I washed all the windows on the outside. That included the ones that involved a 24 foot extension ladder.
My biggest problem was fighting off the lady bug and so called Japanese beetles. They swarm the warm sides of the house and of course, me.
And they Jap ones bite.
On top of a 24 foot ladder swatting those darn things was exciting.
Tonight the Wife promises a crawdad, shrimp, onion, corn and potato boil. Love it. I'll wash it down with some cold beer, then on to my
recliner and a martini, but I'll be thinking of you all.

Pretty good Coop!
Ya won't catch me up a 24 foot ladder anymore!
especially swatting bugs away. I'll call the guy!
Anyway...glad you're safe. Sounds like you are going to have a very enjoyable evening...you deserve it!!

If there was a guy, I would call him. No one looking for work these days.

First thing I did when we bought this old house.
Pull a small slide on the top of each sash and the window tilts in for easy cleaning.
Couple cold B&T's here tonight.
Made a gallon of Bloody Mary earlier, it's chillin at the moment.
May have to try one in a bit.

Re: The Adult Evening Beverage
Thanks for asking Bud!
Been over a month now, but feeling a lot better. Still hurts some to cough or sneeze, but nothing like before. Was some of the worst pain I have ever endured. It sure slowed me down. Made me not want to do anything....bummer!!
Getting there though. The worst is over.

Grand kids talked GMa & GPa to stay over another day, went to neighboring town that had a pumpkin patch celebration going on.
Bouncy houses, corn mazes, rides, caramel & fudge apples, games. I made tacos for all of them tonight and had a Budweiser to wash them down. Will head back tomorrow, skol!
